Jun sighed as he dropped his hands on his thighs after he clicked the send button on his e-mail and shut his computer down, sending away his final report of the week safely to his boss’s e-mail account. He sagged back heavily on his chair, feeling tired after his last twelve hour work shift before he went to his vacation. It was a vacation that was long overdue, he had been putting his holiday off for a few time until his nerve snapped with too much work stress that finally the need to be off work for some time overcame his desire to work his arse off, and also after much coaxing by his newly found boyfriend Nino who was working a few stairs below. His boyfriend won’t be accompanying him regretfully since he would be travelling to Europe for a conference with his boss. Jun wished that they could travel together to have some alone time in the tropical island he would be going to but alas the last  minute call for a conference made them promised that they would go together next time, if there was next time at all.

After Jun finally stashed his final clothes and zipped his bag shut, he flopped down sighing happily with Nino watching him from his bed, sitting crossed leg while sipping a glass of fruit shake that Jun made especially for him.

“You’re sure you’ll be okay on your own?” asked Nino, taking another sip on his glass leaving a trail of foam on his upper mouth.

Jun smiled and nodded his head while sauntering to him and sat on the bed, wrapping his arm around his boyfriend. He brought his face to him to lick the fruity foam clean. Nino giggled and swiped at Jun’s shoulder to get him away before he spilled the fruit shake all over Jun’s bedding, which was probably a bad thing to do due to Jun’s tenacity for cleanliness, especially on his bed, the bed that they had shared once after Jun had asked him to date him a week ago.

“Of course. Why? You change your mind and want to accompany me instead?” Jun gave a playful wink, making Nino giggled again.

“If only I could Jun… but my boss loves me so much he will be writhing like a dying plant if I don’t help him with his presentation…”

“But it’s not more than how much I love you right?” Jun asked, a mock pouting and slight frown were grazing his face. Nino giggled again while bringing his free hand running gracefully on Jun’s face, ironing out the lines that was brought by the frown.

“Of course I know that you love me more than anyone else, you’re willing to give your everything even sponsoring my meals till the end of my life…” with that statement Nino laughed wholeheartedly after he was being tickled by Jun who muttered ‘brat’ at him before Jun brought them together for a kiss.

“Ah J-“ It was what Nino managed to say when the drink spilled unceremoniously on Jun’s shirt and all over the bedding, making the whole room smelling of the mixed fruit shake. They froze for a while in shock but then giggling, it seemed a funny situation for them before Jun grabbed hold of the glass and put them not too carefully on the side desk and straddling Nino on his now fruity-smelled bed.

*

It was a seven-o’clock flight and Jun went to the airport by a taxi. Nino couldn’t accompany him since he was already thousands of kilometres away from him. After going through roughly two hours and a half flight, Jun finally arrived safely in Ishigaki, a part of Yaeyama islands. He checked in a hotel he booked, he was already giddy with excitement, ready to explore the islands as much as he could with a five days’ vacation he had. At first he was thinking of going out of country but after several times thinking it over in his head, he knew he wasn’t confident enough to converse in another language at the time being, so he chose an island within Japan itself. It was a justified choice, he argued, he should explore his own country first before going out exploring others, well he had Nino, they could travel out of the country together someday. He smiled thinking how crazy in love Nino had made him even if they had been officially together for a mere week, and even it would be a bit lonely in the islands, just the thought of Nino making everything bearable.

Jun did everything that he could, he had planned what he would be doing, down to every minute, not trying to waste the time lounging lazily in his hotel room. He shook his head amusingly, thinking how he had turned into Sakurai Sho, his colleague in the office. They had travel together to a ski resort once, it was before he met Nino of course, and he was given first-hand knowledge of Sho’s detailed plan, which ended him feeling more exhausted than he initially was before the holiday.

On the third day of his vacation, he travelled to a small island not too far away from the main island. From the pamphlet he gathered from the travel agency, there was a spot for kayak and he was excited for a round of kayaking around the many small islands surrounding the main.

After paying the fare, Jun took a kayak and started pedalling it across the open water. He had been warned not to travel so far on his own, but his curiosity mixed with excitement of seeing beautiful small beaches overrode the warning. After losing sight of the place he started, suddenly without a warning, the blue sky turned grey and a heavy rain and tide washed over him, making him tumbling into the ocean, he was swept away into somewhere unknown and in his struggle to keep afloat, he prayed that he won’t die yet.

*

Jun blinked open his eyes slowly and he found that he was lying on his stomach, hot sand under him. He coughed up the remaining sea water he unintentionally swallowed, the water flowed freely on the side of his mouth. After the coughing subsided and no water left pouring out of his lungs, he tried to move his muscles. He groaned when he tried to get up, his body was sore all over the place. He turned his body so he was on his back, his eyes squinting at the sun. He found himself stranded on a beach, alone.

There was no one on the island. Jun only needed a half-hour walk to circle the entire island. He couldn’t even see any kind of land from where he stood, not even the shadow of it, it was only a vast of blue water which was staring back at him. He was frustrated, he didn’t know how to contact anyone. His phone had died, soaked in the water and he had to shed his shirt and jacket away to dry them.

Suddenly something was moving out of the corner of his eyes. He turned his head frantically searching for the movement. He was aware that he was exposed to any wild beast attack, so he was very wary of his surroundings. He saw nothing but only a strange bottle in green with thin blue stripes. The bottle was just laid still on the sand however Jun couldn’t help feeling that it beckoned him to come nearer.

Jun picked the pumpkin-shaped bottle carefully. It was small but it’s not as light as it appeared to be. The mouth of the bottle was long and it was shut firmly by a cork. He pulled open the cork and turned it upside down but nothing came out of it. Jun shrugged, thinking what he expected to come out of it. A rum? He chuckled at his own joke, remembering a scene from the Pirate of the Caribbean movie. Well he surely thirsty and hungry right now so there was no problem if there was really rum in the bottle.

Since the bottle contained nothing that interest him, he shut it again before he threw it nonchalantly back onto the sand. It rolled a little before laying still. Jun didn’t pay attention anymore at it, instead he roamed the island for any food to eat, but not before making S.O.S sign with rocks he found along the beach. He found an old coconut that obviously had fallen from the trees for quite a while. He shrugged, thinking that it was better than nothing. It was hard work to rip the outer part so when his patience had been running thin since he was only using his hands, he smashed the coconut onto a big rock. The juice tasted horrible, but it was the only source of food that he tasted until now.

He sat tiredly on the beach watching the sun and the clouds moving. There were no signs at all that anyone was looking for him. Will he be saved or will he die alone there? he thought miserably.

Out of the corner of his eyes, the glinting from the bottle beckoning him once again. Jun sighed, crouching for a little bit to reach for the bottle. Maybe he could bring it back and make it as a vase, Nino probably like it, he thought. But -he thought some more- would he have the opportunity to show it to Nino if he didn’t come out of the island alive?

The sand was covering the outer part of the bottle. Jun reached for the hem of the t-shirt to wipe it, to make it cleaner. The more he wiped it, the prettier the colour it seemed and Jun obviously liked pretty things.

Without warning, the stopper on top of the bottle suddenly popped out, startling Jun. he threw it to the ground when suddenly a green smoke came out from the bottle’s mouth. The smoke formed a shadow that turning more solid until a young man in deep green yukata, which was a bit too small for him, exposing patches of his milky skin looking absolutely shining, literally shining, like he was emitting light brighter than the sun, if it was even possible.

Jun was left speechless. He blinked and blinked watching the man jumping up and down, running around in circle screaming “I’m free!”

It was a moment before the young man noticed Jun’s presence. With a wide grin that stretched until his ears, he ran towards Jun while screaming “Master!!!” and before Jun was able to think of what was happening, the man wrapped his long arms around his neck and kissed him passionately.

All of Jun’s brain function shut down in an instance. A stranger was kissing him. A stranger that was unexpectedly lighter than he looked, long-limbs, warm and pretty… Jun closed his eyes surprisingly enjoying it. Then somewhere on the back of his consciousness telling he shouldn’t enjoy it. He didn’t know who the hell this person or whatever this thing was, furthermore he had Nino, he didn’t want to suddenly cheat on him behind his back. But his other side of brain counter it saying he wasn’t cheating, it wasn’t his fault that someone kissed him out of the blue! With a reluctant move he forced them apart with his hands on the young man’s shoulder.

“What the hell?!” Jun screamed and gave his most scary glare, which seemed ineffective towards the young man-or whatever- who was still grinning widely, he seemed so happy, like he just found out that he won a lottery. Jun crossed his arms on his chest suddenly feeling apprehensive, so he asked, “Who are you?”

The man’s eyes went wider with glee, like it was the best question someone ever ask of him, which made Jun taken aback, feeling guilty for screaming at him just now.

“I’m your genie!” The man jumped on his toes and he nearly hugged Jun again but this time Jun had enough will to prevent it from happening again. The man pouted cutely, obviously disappointed that he couldn’t continue his hugging spree again.

“A genie? Like in Aladdin’s genie? I’m not dreaming am I?”

The man’s eyes literally sparkling, like he was about to tell the greatest news of all.

“No you’re not, Master! I’m your genie. You’ve set me free so from now on I’m going to serve you! Just tell me everything that you want I’m going to grant them for you!”

Jun narrowed his eyes in suspicion. A genie that would granted his wishes? There was something so suspicious about it. He surely was dreaming, this didn’t happen in real life, he was probably too hungry and went delirious.

“How would I know that you’re not bluffing, that you’re not just a fragment of my imagination?...”

“If you don’t believe me I’ll demonstrate!” The man straighten his posture and before he was able to conjure whatever he wanted to conjure, something struck Jun suddenly.

“Wait!”

“What?” The man sent his big brown eyes at Jun.

“If you’re a real genie, I got only three wishes right? I don’t want to waste them! And… are you going to take away my soul after you granted all my wishes?” asked Jun suddenly feeling afraid after remembering a late night drama about a demon that took a soul in exchange of three wishes.

The genie blinked in confusion.

“Of course not. You’re my master. I grant every wish you have!”

“Are you sure? No limit?” Jun knitted his thick and carefully trimmed eyebrows while staring at the genie in disbelief.

“Well… not that I know of… I’ve forgotten… it’s been a while though…” said the strange genie while scratching his head trying to remember something that he had forgotten.

“What do you mean you’ve forgotten? It’s not in your nature?” exclaimed Jun. It was hard to believe that a genie could forget something that a genie usually did, well not that he knew what normal genie usually do but that was what TV and movies taught him after all. If he needed someone or something to blame for the misinformation he could blame all the screen writers or the producers for it.

“No… we genie were trained how to do our magic so we can be able to serve our masters…but…” the genie trailed off.

“But…?”

“But I was trapped in the bottle since I was a child so I don’t have the chance to finish my school… and I wonder if I still can do magic though….”

This was getting weirder, Jun thought, still unable to believe that a genie required lesson to do magic. It was like a Harry Potter world where the witches and wizard went to school to learn magic. But that magical world didn’t exist, and the existence of genie was also very doubtful to him, only that obviously he was confronted with one now.

“You don’t practice inside your bottle?” asked Jun curiously.

“I can’t. The bottles prevent any magic. I’m useless inside it…” said the genie, pouting sadly.

The look of sadness on the genie’s face tugged at Jun’s heart all of the sudden. He didn’t know why he felt pity but that genie looked so pathetically hopeless and fragile all of the sudden. He ran his eyes on the tall genie and the more he stared at the genie the more his protectiveness and sympathy building inside him. The genie said he was trapped inside the bottle since childhood and right now he was inside a barely fit yukata that probably the only thing he was wearing since his childhood. No wonder it’s too small for him…

Jun sighed and cleared his throat.

“Do you have a name anyway?”

“Yes! I’m Aiba. That’s what my mother calls me! So what’s your name Master?”

“Me? I’m Matsumoto. Matsumoto Jun-“

“Master JunJun!” Aiba jumped up excitedly. Jun cringed as he felt a sudden annoyance that the genie could come up with the most outrageous name for him ever in just a split second.

“Don’t call me JunJun! And stop calling me Master too!” Jun reprimanded him instantly.

“But… you’re my Master. We genie must respect our Master…” Aiba blinked at him innocently.

Oh god, that puppy eyes…

“Alright, just Master though… don’t add that weird things after that!” Jun sighed, he didn’t know what else to do since the genie was so adamant on calling him master.

“Alright Master JunJun!”

“I’m telling you don’t add JunJun…” Jun sighed again while rubbing his face. This genie was really grating his nerve right now.

“Yes, Master!” answered Aiba, the genie, batting his pretty eyelashes at him, which made Jun’s heart skip a bit.

Jun decided to change the topic.

“So do you know where your parents are?”

“I don’t know. Someone bad had trapped me inside the bottle when I was playing with my friend at school… my parents are probably forgotten about me anyway…” said Aiba, his head ducked down, his feet playing with the sand listlessly.

“You don’t know where you live?” asked Jun in concern. His sympathy for the genie increased again when he found out the he had lost his parents. He must be an orphan with nobody to take care of him right now. Poor him…

“I don’t remember… and besides I can’t go back home after I found myself a Master, Master’s home will be my home instead… But I’m happy now that I have a home to live with you Master!” The sad look suddenly turned happier as Aiba stared at Jun expectantly.

“No! You can’t live with me!” Jun blanched. The thought of having another man, or a genie inside his house unnerved him, no matter how much sympathy he held for him.

“But you’re my Master, I must live with you…” Aiba’s tone turned sad again. He was pouting and looking so pitiful.

“Can’t you find another Master? I can’t bring you home… Nino will be mad!” asked Jun frantically. He couldn’t deliberately elicit his new boyfriend’s wrath.

“I can’t go to another Master. You’re the one who found me, so I’ll be with you forever until you die, otherwise I’ll die first if you don’t want me…” Aiba’s eyes were brimming with tears and his lips quivered as he started to cry while clutching at his worn out yukata. If that was Aiba’s way to convince him to take him home, it was working brilliantly. Jun had a weakness, in which he was weak with tears.

“No don’t cry! Alright you can live with me… I guess I can talk to Nino about it…” Jun was already scratching his head, his brain was working in overdrive trying to come up with an excuse to present to Nino about another man living with him which would most probably end with disaster.

“Yay! You’re the best Master any genie can have!” Aiba launched at Jun, wrapping his long arms on his neck and began kissing him again.

“Aiba, don’t kiss me-“ Jun put his hand on Aiba’s face trying to put a distance. It didn’t upset Aiba again though since he was probably in excited mode right now.

“A genie must kiss his master when he’s please, and right now Master makes me feels so happy!” Aiba explaining it like it was a common fact and Jun already felt alarmed at the ridiculousness of it all. Nino would probably kill him if he found out about it.

“What kind of rule is that?!” Jun exclaimed. The genie ignored him apparently while he continued explaining his another outrageous ‘fact’ or ‘rule’ or whatever that fit him.

“I can also please you in bed if you want! Even though I haven’t been taught that since I missed the class so I’m not sure what kind of pleasing thing to do to you… But! I can accompany you sleep or play instead!” explained Aiba innocently.

Jun stared at him in horror with his mouth wide open. Nino would definitely kill him if he even thought of allowing Aiba on his bed. This genie surely didn’t know what the meaning of that statement. He pried open the arms that circling his neck.

“Okay, first, let’s get out of here… Do you know where Tokyo is?”

Aiba shook his head dejectedly. Jun sighed. He figured that Aiba must be older than he appeared to be not to know about Tokyo. So he tried again.

“But can you summon us a ship? Or a boat?” Jun stared at Aiba expectantly. Ships and boats do exist in history right?

“A sheep? Yes, I know one!”

A sheep appeared which made Aiba so happy that he could still do magic as he squeak happily at the sheep in front of them. However it wasn’t what Jun wanted. Jun rubbed his face in exasperation when his hope extinguished in an instance. Aiba was more naïve than he thought.

“No, not a sheep! I said ship. S. H. I. P. ship!” Jun tried to explain patiently but he guess his nerve was too frail to actually explain something descriptive to a genie. The sheep gone in a poof.

Aiba gave him such a clueless look, it made Jun went speechless for a bit.

“Urgh, never mind. What about a boat?”

Aiba just stared at him blankly again.

“No, you don’t know it either? How about a helicopter? Or a small plane? Like this… like a metal bird…”
Jun spread his arms and ran in circle, trying to imitate a plane. At the back of his mind he knew Aiba probably had no clue but he was hoping for a miracle that the things he just mentioned was taught at his so-called school at least.

A hawk appeared instead.

“No… not that kind of bird!”

“You’re a genie, you said you can fulfil my wishes… why you don’t know all these things?!” exclaimed Jun in exasperation. He didn’t mean to scold Aiba but he was just tired and hungry and that combination of his present condition making him easily irritated and increased his temper.

“Well, we can only conjure something within our knowledge… I obviously don’t know what Master meant…” said Aiba in teary eyes, shrinking his body.

“How old are you then?” asked Jun, frowning.

“Mmm… nearly two thousand years I think… I don’t keep track of my age since in the inside of my bottle was full of my writing, I don’t know which is which anymore…”

Jun corked his eyebrow. He never thought that this Aiba was so old. He probably knew nothing right now.
Jun sighed again. He lost count how many he had sighed right now. He scratched his head wondering why he was fated to meet such an old but useless and clueless genie ever when he was stranded on an island and desperately needed to be saved.

“You should wear proper clothes, it’s too small for you. Here, wear my jacket…” said Jun wearily, eyeing Aiba who was looking so dangerously fine-looking in that thin and tight fitting yukata. Not that it would ever seduce Jun, no, he was just worried that Aiba would catch a cold (if a genie could catch a cold that is) or the yukata could rip apart any time soon with how worn and tight it looked.

“Master is too kind…” Aiba eyes went brimming with tears again, obviously feeling touch as Jun draped the jacket over Aiba’s body.

“Don’t look at me like that…” said Jun uneasily, feeling a flutter in his stomach. Clearly Aiba’s eyes was doing something to him. This genie would be the death of him, he thought.

“Ah is that the bird you’re talking about?” Suddenly Aiba’s voice jerked Jun away from his thought. Jun’s eyes went wide with hope and excitement as his eyes went to the direction of Aiba’s hand. It was so small, floating in and out of the cloud but it definitely was.

“It’s a helicopter! Let’s wave or something!”

Jun began to jump around and waved enthusiastically. Meanwhile Aiba produced a green smoke as he looked at Jun for approval. Jun looked at Aiba in surprise.

“You’re smart Aiba! Perhaps you’re not so useless after all…” exclaimed Jun in excitement while ruffling Aiba’s head fondly.

*

The next morning, Jun rushed to the airport to take the flight home after gathering his stuff and checking out of the hotel. He had been hospitalised overnight and he thought it was better to hit home the moment he was discharged.

Fortunately, Aiba agreed to go back inside his bottle temporarily so Jun didn’t waste money to buy additional seat for him.

Momentarily Jun thought of throwing the bottle away, but further thought of the sad state of the genie, he decided against it. Perhaps having a genie in your possession wouldn’t be so bad at all, he thought as he eased himself into the plane seat and fell asleep in exhaustion.

*

A day later…

The door was opened after a series of incessant knocking. Nino had just went back from his long flight and he was tired. He came back a day earlier to surprise Jun who was supposed to arrive home today, but ever since he came down from his plane a few hours ago he couldn’t contact Jun at all and it was worrying him as well as irritating him. So he decided to go to Jun’s apartment. He just never thought that something surprising was waiting for him in front of Jun’s door.

“Jun! Why I can’t get you on your pho- Who the hell are you?!” Nino exclaimed in shock as the door was opened revealing a stranger. He thought his heart stop beating for a while.

“I’m Aiba!” A young, handsome clad in nothing but a towel around his waist and a small one wrapping his head greeted him excitedly. They’re Jun’s towels! Nino wanted to scream.

His chiselled-shaped body was dripping with water wetting the floor as he stared at Nino who was gaping at him like a fish. Nino shook his head, retrieving his bearing before he shrieked.

"Jun!!! Why there's a naked guy in your home?!!!"
