I'm really starting to miss Olympia, despite my better judgement. More accurately - I miss my peeps, I miss having the only mid-atlantic accent being Tim's, I miss the Budd Inlet and its pristine beaches, I miss being able to get on firm social grounding by negotiating it in person, I miss Fabulous Yoga Teacher Grace and her kali ray tri-yoga classes, and I miss Otto's whole wheat bagels with cream chesse/lox/onions/capers. In the second tier of missed things are Phonathon, The Brotherhood at happy hour, being stoned in the forest, having a computer with an internet connection at home, not living with southerners, and having everyone I regularly talk to living in the same time zone. Soon, dear Olympia readers, I will be back and all of these things will be mine again.
I'm quite out of practice at the whole school thing, which means that I've spent two hours looking at blogs and livejournals rather than writing the political science paper that is due Wednesday. Yeah, misused computer lab time, you rock! The paper is about the failures of the Scottish Parliament to fully live up to its purposed stated in the Scotland's Parliament white paper. I had way, way more fun interviewing drunk Scots in pubs than researching it in the crazy confusing Uni library, and I'm still trying to figure out a way to make this piece of shite eight pages.
In other news - I have a cough and a near-constant stomachache, which sucks. I'm hopeful that I don't have something worth treating with anything more potent than multivitamins, bland food, and perhaps prayer. NHS is good for UK residents, but expensive as hell and shitty for those used to American insurance-funded healthcare. Christian Science, don't let me down again!
Oh, sweetness and sincerity. I need to get to work, finally. Dear readers, please keep in touch, I certainly will.
