so.. stuff... and things...

I feel that this is going to be rambly.

on Sunday I finally got to properly meet Nathan Fillion and Ron Glass - it was awesome :) Nathan is supremely kick-ass, both on-stage and off.

So after attacking ourselves with Mel's new GHD straightener (YAAAAAAAAY) we were running a bit late, but managed to get there around 9:30 - so I was working with Jen on the browncoat stand all day - it went really freakin well, I think, there were only really a few patches where we were quiet, which were basically when talks were on or when everyone had just spent all their money. but even so, we were still selling bags right up until the end of the day.

Other stuff - The talks were great, though I found Ron's a bit meh - mainly, I think, cos it felt like people asked the exact same questions - 'where did you see book going?' 'what would you have wanted to happen to book?' 'what would you have wanted to happen with firefly/serenity'.... etc. and every time he kinda just went 'i don't know...' or 'i really don't mind as long as i was in it' sorta thing - we were talking to him later at the cocktail party and it became clear to me why that is... Ron Glass has never watched an episode of firefly. He's never seen Serenity. He's not interested in it, and he basically flat out said to us that he's 'moved on with his life' - which I can completely understand, but it totally made it clear why he had no idea what would have happened -he just didn't really care. He was sad about the job ending, but then he moved on, the life of an actor, and he didn't really think about what COULD have happened to his character cos his CHARACTER IS DEAD.

Nathan was of course brilliant - heard some interesting questions, some samey questions, when asked about prop souvenirs he actually said that he stole the Catalyser - 'cause they're worthless til you don't got one' (AW. SEE. OPPOSITE OF RON. EVEN REMEMBERS HIS FREAKIN' DIALOGUE!) he said he also has a bunch of the money, and he got given the sign to kaylee's room by the props department (and passed it on to jewel - which meant she not only lied about stealing it ;), but she could bring it back for serenity :) He has one of his pistol replicas (the dropable one) and yeah. he's awesome. ahem. He also talked about some of Alan Tudyk's other fantastic episode ideas (man, why is this guy not writing?!) one of which involved them having to catch a pack of wild dogs for a bunch of guys that run dog-fights - and those dogs being attracted to a certain 'musk' that they had in a bottle. Unfortunately they're about to go and set the trap for the dogs and somehow the bottle gets crushed, and they all end up covered in the musk, and have to outrun the dogs back to serenity, which they do, and they get them all in the cargo hold - rabid and wild as ever... they leave them there overnight and river sneaks down and communes with them. then when they open the cargo hold to deliver them, they're all tame, sweet, sulky puppy dogs. hahahaaa.

Also he had an idea about a caper going wrong, where all the fighters - mal/jayne/zoe, and even book, and maybe simon (he forgot to mention him) have gone off on a mission, and they get caught, and then just wash and the girls have to figure out how to save them. naww.

Him drawing on that shirt to sell was so freaking hilarious, he drew a boat, and pecs and a belly button, and tattoos on the arms. cute. Jason Palmer came up and drew wings on the back :) If only i had billions of dollars.

AAAAAAAAaaaaanyway... I loved that during the auto session when I spelt my name (Cos i tend to get autos signed to 'Leish' not 'Aleisha' because that's what everyone calls me) 'it's short for Aleisha, ya know..' Nathan: "Oh! I see, cos I was thinking I have one for my dog but that's a little weird.. ahh i'm just kiddin'.." hee. I thanked Ron for his donation to the sydney serenity screening last year (I think he had COMPLETELY forgotten), and I thanked Nathan for coming out to the Backup bash and making it much less fucked. (may not have been exact words)

I helped out with organising the cocktail party - went shopping with Deb, bought all the food and drink, and got there, set up and then felt the need to collapse on the floor by the time everyone arrived - STRESSFUL MUCH? we were supposed to leave earlier, like, 5ish, so we got our autos early and were going to go, like literally had our bags and were walking out - but then Deb got told there were some women who wanted to do re-shoots of their photo-ops with nathan because they weren't happy with them, so we had to wait for that, and there was other stuff Deb had to do, so we ended up not leaving til about 6:15 - when the cocktail party was starting at 7. ergh! But still, we got it all done, cos we rock, and it all went swimmingly :) if anyone out there was wondering how Ron Glass takes his pizza? He likes it with Pepperoni, Mushroom and Olives. So there ya go.

the night was fun, the room was SWELTERING once again, as the aircon just couldn't cope with so many people in such a small space, we were all melting. it was bad. We spoke to Nathan for a fair while - he went around the circle and asked all of us what WE do/what we're doing tomorrow and he stopped on mine and mel's the longest because I said 'i have tomorrow off because I work in our gallery on Saturdays...' and he said 'oh? what type of gallery?' and i went 'uh... an art gallery?' *laugh* 'no i mean modern art? historical?' me:'oh, all different kinds, bit of everything, and we do framing out of there too.' he first started off telling us about how he'd seen some aboriginal art in a gallery across the street and how he thought 'oh come on, *I* Could do that!' and that Ron was drooling on it, so he took a mental note of what the one he really liked looked like and was going to knock him up one for his birthday. hehe. He then started talking about how his friend has this beautiful house in vancouver but they haven't finished painting it, and it bugged him so much that he went to the hardware store, bought a canvas, painted it the colour he thought it should be, brought it back to his friends' house and held it up against different parts of wall to show them how nice the place would look - oh, and they also had a weird fuse-box that was really ugly and always bugged him because it was in their hallway, so he got another canvas, painted it randomly, aged it a bit, rubbed it back so it really looked like a real painting, and hung it over the box for them (how much do you WANT THAT PAINTING!?) naw. what a nice friend.

He then remembered that with the yellow canvas - his friend with the house's cat was dying, and so they were looking after it in it's last days of life, and decided to get some green paint, lay out his yellow canvas, and get the cat to walk across it - and now the painting is up in their kitchen, and 'it's worth more now, because the cat's dead' hehehe

He then got to talking about Halo with Red - which was adorable, he genuinely loves that shit.
Oh also after he'd kinda left our bunch, I went up and said 'i'm told you're a bit of a chocolate fan?' and he said 'chocaholic' and i said, OH you HAVE to go to this place called Koko black' and he was like 'oh come on, would you walk up to an alcoholic and tell them about this fantastic new bar?' I was like 'oh, you have a point there, but at least chocolate addiction isn't so harmful... I described the platter thing they have, and the hot chocolate, and he was just staring at me, and then just went 'You're KILLIN' ME HERE.' hehehee awww... Nathan. How so wonderful?

awwwwww :D so yeah, twas a good weekend, my photo-ops turned out well, but i doubt my Q&A ones will be very good, we'll see.

Besides that, yesterday (being my day off! WOO! FIRST WEEKEND IN 3 weeks! I went and took Timmy to the vet (oh, btw, he's ok again, but cost another $500 to get that way. guh...) then went around to Andy's, hung out for a while, watched some of serenity, then went to Top Fun to play arcade games, mini-golf, and bowling with his 13 yr old neice who's visiting from new zealand.

Was much childish fun :) mini golf is hard. and god, I LOVE bowling. :D
