I went to New Orleans last weekend to visit Tammy's family and see Mardi Gras. Last time I was there I knew my way around and could drive us to the city and back to her dad's house, but I didn't even recognize most of the city this time.

This is Tammy's sister's brand new house. It was easily worth $300,000 and was finished just a few months before the hurricane. This is looking down from the upstairs loft into the living room.

Looking through the master bathroom and into the master bedroom.

The back wall of the house was exposed to the wind and it ripped out most of the back of the house. The water reached some parts of the second floor.

There used to be fences separating the houses but now you can look down along the back yards.

This is what most of the subdivisions in the city look like.

There used to be a row of houses on the other side of this canal, the grass on the other side would be their back yard. The water picked up many of the houses...

...and dropped them onto a street on the other side of the canal. Some of the houses landed on cars.

You can see the front porch of this house on the left side of the picture.

On a happier note...

This is Dave. We went skydiving on Sunday and driving back from the dropzone we saw two dogs on the highway. We stopped and they both jumped into the car.

This is Albert.

I don't remember what we were thinking about but I'm pretty sure it was the same thing.

When I first arrived I recognized alot of Tammy's family members' cars but I didn't recognize the one I parked next to. Then I looked in...

There are tens of thousands of cars like this one scattered around the city.

Camp Tommaseo

A trailer they bought.

Tammy and her niece Tabitha.
