hello from Istanbul!

Just a quick entry--I´m in an internet cafe near my hotel. The flight here was exhausting--we waited over an hour to take off from JFK, so that added to the looooong flight. The weather here is warm and humid. The city is simply amazing--it is a bit overwhelming.

Today we saw the Sultanhamet Mosque, the Underground Cistern (remember in From Russia With Love, when Bond is on a boat on an underground lake? That´s the cistern), Aya Sofıa (or Hagia Sofia), and the Spice (or Egyptian) Market. Haven´t bought much so far--some apple tea and lokum (aka Turkish Delight) today. Tomorrow we go to Topkapi Palace and then to the costumer in the Grand Bazzar. As a man once said--here´s where the fun begins.

Also--the computer keyboards are awkward because of the extra letters ın Turkish. Just a random thought. And yes--I´m taking lots of pictures :)

Love you all!
