My psychic powers know how to pick 'em.
I've been reading book one of George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, A Game of Thrones. Basically, people who have similar book tastes as me have been recommending it, so I finally decided to pick it up. I like it well enough.
I'm about 300 pages in when I think, "man, I really like this little side character. I know he doesn't do anything, but he's kind of awesome. But knowing storytelling formula, he's probably going to die. God, don't let him die. He's awesome. I always pick the dead guys."
Two pages later, he was dead.
