Strange Jumble of Assorted Fangirlness
Started the day out with watching the first two DVDs of Yawara!: a Fashionable Judo Girl - which is old school and full of...sort of, slice of life, toned down humor? The really interesting thing is that the DVDs came out last year, but is available only subbed. But the subs aren't just any kind...they have the "feel" of fansubbers who translate without trying to adapt it to an American audience and put cultural notes in the translations in the form of extra captions.
I think what I liked right away was that the throws are animated really well and I can actually call them out as I see them. I didn't expect to actually recognize the throws being executed, since I thought it would be inflated and ridiculous like every other martial art/sport anime/manga to the point where it's just not realistic. It's actually freshingly grounded. A bit slow, but interesting in that I actually CAN'T predict everything that's going to happen.
Having found, brushed off, edited, and posted an old Saitou/Tokio oneshot last night, I thought I'd give completing the one I was currently writing a shot. Not in the cards. It's just too much fricken focus involved. But I still wanted to bask in fandom.
Having completed a rather...interesting Howl's Moving Castle fic, I hopped along fandoms, searching for something interesting, but nothing really called out to my heart, though I tried a number of things for several hours.
Then it hit me...an old pairing that will never die.
So I hit up the old Bruce Wayne/Selina Kyle torch burning inside and found a few that were kinda cute, plenty I had no desire to read, and one that I found mildly interesting at first...which then turned truly provoking...and then almost made me cry.
It's not finished yet, but yeah, it's been awhile since my stomach's just kinda dropped while reading a fic.
