KIA Soul in Ypsi

Killed in Action is about to introduce a mini Scion xB rip-off called the Soul. It's not as cool as the promised US version asymmetrical Nissan Cube (which I saw recently in Ypsi as well, complete with steering wheel on the wrong side). I saw this KIA in person behind Sidetracks (not far from the KIA development center) with camouflage tape ( Read more... )

The Cube will sell like crazy. ...and get tastelessly modded:

Doubtful as a wheeled tour box if you use your upright and rock more than a duo. In person, it's no bigger than a commercial refrigerator.

I'm always evaluating vehicles as bandmobiles too. With Chapstik's gear, even a 15 passenger van is not workable without our trailer. But with all the gear in a trailer, I am free to pull it with anything that'll hold 5 people... like a GTO .

It looks like it has a shorter wheelbase than a VW Golf and makes up for the cargo volume with height. I'd be all about one of these things if they didn't ride low enough for neighborhood streets to eat them.

It looks pretty cool although the rear pillar is on the wrong side. Line of sight for the driver needs more visibility on the right side of the car; the left side's already got shoulder belt, door pillars, and so on in the way so the rear pillar wouldn't affect the view.

I think this Cube might be a Japanese Domestic Market version. Pray they move the window opening to the other side for us. Though I already drive a Fiero, which has 0 visibility, so I just make sure I pass everyone and note where they were when I change lanes.
