Batcrap DC traffic stuff for the weekend

For the lot of you going to the rally and hanging out in DC this weekend, I just got dropped some good traffic/parking/closure info from my boss.

The upcoming weekend brings both Halloween festivities and the Marine Corps Marathon to Georgetown. Due to the number of attendees in Georgetown during the Halloween weekend, there are a number of street closures on both Saturday, October 30 and Sunday, October 31. The Marine Corps Marathon takes place on Sunday, October 31 and will also require some street closures.

THE METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT IS ISSUING THE FOLLOWING TRAFFIC ALERT FOR HALLOWEEN IN GEORGETOWN:

Emergency No-Parking Restrictions will be in effect from:

* 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 30 until 6:00 a.m. Sunday, October 31, 2010
* 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 31 until 6:00 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2010

Please note: Cars will be relocated to Water Street if space is available

The affected routes will be as follows:

* K Street NW, from 30th Street to Wisconsin Avenue, NW
* Water Street NW, west of 33rd Street, NW
* 1000-1300 blocks of Wisconsin Avenue, NW
* M Street NW, from 25th Street to the Key Bridge
* 1100 block of 26th Street, NW

The following streets will be closed to through traffic from 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2010 to 4 a.m. on Sunday, October 31 and from 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 31 to 4 a.m. on Monday, November 1. Only residents and employees of businesses within these areas will be granted access. Additional streets may be closed and/or opened at the direction of the Second District (2D) Commander or his designee. Residents must present proof of residence and employees must present work identification to gain access to these streets:

* 1000 block of Grace Street NW
* 1000 block of Thomas Jefferson Street, NW
* 1000-1500 blocks of 29th Street, NW
* 1000-1500 blocks of 30th Street, NW
* 1200-1300 blocks of Potomac Street, NW
* 1200-1500 blocks of 27th Street, NW
* 1200-1500 blocks of 28th Street, NW
* 1200-1600 blocks of 33rd Street, NW
* 1200-1700 blocks of 34th Street, NW
* 1500 32nd Street, NW
* 2600-3100 blocks of Dumbarton Street, NW
* 2600-3100 blocks of P Street, NW
* 2600-3600 blocks of O Street, NW
* 2700-3600 blocks of N Street, NW
* 2700 block of Poplar Lane, NW
* 2700-2900 blocks of Olive Street, NW
* 3100 block of Blues Alley, NW
* 3100 block of Oak Alley, NW
* 3100 block of South Street, NW
* 3200-3400 blocks of Q Street, NW
* 3200 block of Cecil Place, NW
* 3200-3600 blocks of Prospect Street, NW
* 3300 block of Cady's Alley, NW
* 900 block of 30th Street, NW

Bike rack barricades will be posted from the 2900 to 3200 blocks of M Street, NW and the 1000 to 1300 blocks of Wisconsin Avenue, NW.

*Please note that MPD reserves the right to change street closures at any time.

THE MARINE CORPS MARATHON ROUTE WILL CAUSE SOME CLOSURES FROM APPROXIMATELY 7:30 A.M. TO 11 A.M. ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 31. THE CLOSURES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

* 7:33 a.m. to 9:40 a.m.: Francis Scott Key Bridge (all lanes)
* 7:40 a.m. to 10:36 a.m.: M Street, NW from from Canal Road, NW to Wisconsin Avenue, NW
* 7:48 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.: Wisconsin Avenue from M Street, NW to K Street, NW
* 7:49 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.: K Street, NW from Wisconsin Avenue, NW to Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway, NW
