wonder

I've been reading Dangerous Wonder (Mike Yaconelli, the same guy that wrote Messy Spirituality) and some of the things he's saying are striking deep chords with me. Mostly, that is the lack of wonder that ravages our adult lives and, more deeply, our churches. It's this mind numbing busy oblivion that we find ourselves caught in at one point or another, for a brief moment of realization, before we're swept back into it's hypnotic trancelike state.

Case in point, I followed a woman into the library, who was a parent of 2 of my former students. I would've liked a word with her, to catch up on how the girl's are doing etc, but I couldn't even catch her eye when she was holding open the door for me. I know she wasn't purposefully avoiding me, because she'd talk forever if given the opportunity, but she was focused on her cell phone and seemed a fitting prisoner of it's small world.

I'm wondering how many awe filled moments I miss because I'm content to be caught in this sort of dumb, gerbil on a wheel state of mind? I've made it a goal to capture as many as possible, though my main priority is even more elusive.

Not only to find the wonder and blessings which God has given, but to share it as heartily and openly as possible.

That said, anyone want to join a multi-dance group with me to express these things? =D
