I've never participated in anything like this, so please bear with me. One of my writing goals this year was to not sign up for tons of fest... but on the same hand, another goal was to branch out into different fandoms. Anyway, thank you for taking a whack at my (probably very vague) requests -- I know you're going to be awesome.
Overall, I'm a huge fan of strong women characters. I like to know more about what motivates them -- why do they do what they do? I tend to default towards preferring angst, though if you're a humor writer and have a plot bunny, go for it. I love a laugh as much as anyone! Fluff is not my favorite just because I think there should always be a balance -- life itself isn't all fluffy, so I prefer my fic not to be that way. (I don't know if that makes any sense... I have had two glasses of wine tonight).
I don't like slash or femmeslash. I'm sorry, they're just not my thing. I'm het; all day, every day. I don't mind smut (and I quite like it, actually), but nothing way kinky. I'm probably one of the most vanilla smut writers out there (at least in HP), so I hope that doesn't inconvenience you. If you're worried about any idea you might have, feel free to drop a PM to fiery_flamingo; she's my fandom BFF, and she can answer any questions you might have about writing for me (and I promise, she won't spoil your surprise!).
Also, gen is totally cool, too. Badass women being badass... what's not to like?
I'm not going to really get into specifics with my Harry Potter requests just because I could probably write several pages on stuff I like. You can check out my masterlist or my writing archive (venividiscribi) to get a good idea of the sorts of pairings/scenarios I'm into. I love doomed romances, masquerade balls (such a kink), libraries, complicated relationships (family and otherwise), and relationships between Houses. I also have a serious love for the Delacours -- however, if you write Gabrielle, I do ask that you write her accent.
The Borgias -- I'm just going to say it: If you write me Cesare Borgia/Caterina Sforza hate!sex, I will love you until the end of time. I ship it so, so hard, and the possibilities for fic with these two are endless. I know Cesare/Lucrezia is popular, but I would ask that you not write them for me. While I will freely admit that they are freaking hot together in the show, it still squicks me because they're brother and sister, you know? I just can't get past that. >.> Anyway, I love me some Cesare/Caterina... let your imagination go wild! Or, like I said in my sign-up, a love triangle between Cesare/Sancia/Juan (since it's alleged she had affairs with both, and there's also a theory that Gioffre killed Juan over his affair with Sancia) would also be awesome.
If you've got the urge to write a story from the Kushiel's Legacy universe, it's probably best just to reference my sign-up for ideas on that. Even though sexuality is fluid in that verse, I would still prefer to read about het relationships -- Anafiel/Melissande, Josceline/Phèdre, Imriel/Sidonie, Drunstan/Ysandre. Oooh, or a fic about Amarante's year of wandering (after she left Sidonie's service) could be totally awesome.
So... yeah. Go wild, and most importantly: have fun! I can't wait to read whatever you come up with. :D
