That would be AMAZING if Alec Baldwin made growly noises whenever Jack did something stupid. I might watch then;) I actually don't know when it airs, because I am doing everything I can to hide from info about it. I unfollowed all the 24 stuff save Renee/Annie on tumblr, and I don't even go on twitter anymore, so hopefully I'll be mostly safe from info. I think maybe April or May or something.

I could not agree with you more about TWD if I tried. As much as I hating Rick's ousting of Carol, I could absolutely see how they could have taken that in about five hundred interesting narrative directions. However, instead we returned to the Governor, who good god has bored me since literally five minutes after he appeared onscreen. When Michonne finally katanaed (totally a word) him, I was just like, thank fuck. I wasn't even excited! And all that Hershel shit was so predictable and unnecessary, unless you get off on things that make Andrew Lincoln demonstrate how he's a relatively terrible actor. WHAT SORRY I SHOULDN'T SAY THAT, lol. He's a lovely man. I'm just tired of his tics.

You know, it's sort of funny. I have seen the first two series of BBC Sherlock and I mean. I actually find Benedict Cumberbatch revolting, which I guess means I'm not female. I also hate him as Sherlock, but I don't really like the books either, so I'm the wrong person to ask. I see Elementary .gifs on tumblr all the time, and it looks quite delightful, but I have no plans to take up more tv, oy.

WHAT IS HAPPENING ON DOWNTON? I totally forgot it existed, but I keep hearing people bitch about it!

Sigh, I'm so sorry about the stress with your mom. As much as I loathe thinking about it, we're just getting to that age where our parents are not going to be as healthy as they used to be, AND IT SUCKS. I know you've been dealing with issues for a long time and this only makes it worse. Sigh sigh sigh. I'm thinking of you a lot and sending hugs.

The foot is okay! It's still sort of blue and it hurts a bit to put on shoes, but I think it is all fine. I just feel like a dolt for managing to be that clumsy, LOL.

God, I suck at LJ these days. I keep forgetting to check it, and now that Gmail has separate tabs for regular mail and social media, I don't check that either. So, sorry for the late reply.

Yeah, well, Benedict is a British actor, and their standards for what constitutes hot or even TV-worthy are refreshingly lax. (I mean, the Anna and Bates bedroom scene? My eyes!) but I think he captures the character really well. Much better than the guy they had on PBS ages ago. He's got that strangely compelling arrogant prick routine down pat. But YMMV. I haven't watched last night's ep yet, but I am looking forward to it.

DA. OMG. It's like they have a checklist of all the bad things that can happen to a person, and are randomly assigning them to the characters. Last week they reached 'R' for 'rape' and Anna's name came out of the hat. Their heavy-handed treatment is breathtaking. "I can't tell Bates, because then he will kill the man, and then he will hang, so I will suffer alone to keep from being alone because no man, no matter how wonderful, can control himself when it comes to this. Oh, and I feel dirty and unworthy. Did I mention that?" I just. What. Even.

In the meantime, some servant girl that I do not remember from previous episodes came back and seduced Tom, claimed she might be pregnant the next morning, and tried to force a proposal out of him, while Mary's long-lost childhood friend returned and proposed to her after a two-day house party. Both issues were set up and resolved in two episodes, hence the need for the list of bad things, because they chew through the plot points rather quickly. I think I'm done with the show, although I'll probably keep watching because my in-laws love it so much and will want to talk about it. But I have ceased to care, not that I did very much in the first place.

Aging sucks. And, like Tolstoy's miserable families, everyone ages in their own way, so it's incredibly complicated to navigate the system. Mom's back at home and doing really well, so now Dad's thinking they might stay in the house a while longer, which: it's fine when everything's fine, but the minute something happens, I have to take a month off work to help them. Argh. However, they helped me a lot when the kids were young, not to mention what they did for me when I was young, so I don't begrudge them the help. I just wish the solution was easy and simple. LOL.
