Yeah, it's officially a truth that I have NEVER needed to smash a couple's faces together as much as I needed to with Jack and Renee. I actually halfway held out until he chokeholded her in 7x03, and then I was all NOPE DONE. For whatever else I can say about 8x17 (heh), I have never once watched it without my brain making some kind of WEIRD GASPING HAPPY NOISE when he grabs her and kisses her. It's just my fucking favorite thing.
The weird thing with Daryl and Carol is that I truly do want them to get together, but it's such a different kind of feeling. He has absolutely no emotional vocabulary, and honestly in so many ways in my brain, they're the anti Jack and Renee. Jack and Renee are just idk, this force. They also are each other, so it's pretty seamless when they boink. I want to watch Daryl and Carol attempt to go at it with all the realistic awkward that doing so would involve. I want them to blush and stammer and stutter and kiss sloppily and not get it right the first time and have to talk about it. I NEED THEM TO DO THAT. Before they die. Ugh.

Another song I'm liking right now is Corb Lund's Horse Soldier. Also not a happy song, alas. And country, which is unusual for me. But I dig the way he gets all the history in.
