→ I finally broke down (it was SO bound to happen), and I'm officially watching The Walking Dead. I'm already done with S1; it's only six episodes. (I blame
adrenalin211 and take absolutely no responsibility for my own terrible life choices.) This show is a clusterfuck on pretty much every level that exists. So far, I'm more grossed out than I am scared, which surprises me, given my insane fear of zombies. It's the gore factor that turns me off more than anything. On the plus side, the sound effects alone are usually so revolting that I can look away and tell just from listening when it's more or less safe to look back.
HOWEVER. I love the cast and quite a few of the characters, and we all know how much I love me a good end of the world, we only have each other to survive scenario. And holy shit, Daryl Dixon. Don't get me started because I won't stop. He is fucking gorgeous, and every time he's in a scene I more or less forget what's going on because ARMS. Yes, I'm that mature.
But the show does fascinate me in the way it looks at the possibilities for human behavior when the standard niceties to which we are all so accustomed vanish. I am enjoying the hell out of watching how each character reacts.
Because of my TWD love, I follow the tag on tumblr, and naturally, there is already so much character hate for Carol, who is one of my faves. This is something I haven't missed at all about fandom -- the character hate. It's also another thing I don't love about tumblr, because everything there is public. It's not as if there's a space you can mandate to be a character-you-love-hate-free-zone, like my journal is for Renee. Meh.
→ Speaking of Renee, Friday was Renee Walker Day (as in the three year anniversary of her death, and yes I'm lame enough to know that; WHAT OF IT?). I cried about it a lot on tumblr, but beyond that, one interesting thing popped up. Annie tweeted
this picture, which is a wildly different interpretation of what happened during Vladimir's stabbing. And then later she tweeted that it was Kiefer's call to have Renee stab Jack in the stomach. INTERESTING. Idk, I'll remain forever vexed about what they did to her character in S8, but I do feel as if the way they shot it worked better than the way that pic portrays it. Thoughts?
Do any of your guys use Scrivener or know people who do? On the off chance I can martial enough brainpower to even consider
het_bigbang, I'm thinking about buying it.
And it's Monday. Must pound large amounts of coffee. What's going on with you guys? If you have time, tell me one character you'd like to punch people for hating on!
