Title: When Mandy met Lisa
Rating: G
Possible spoilers/warnings: None
Summary: Her knees were shaking as Professor McGonagall lowered the Sorting Hate onto her head.
Notes: So, numbaby requested Lisa!ickle and Mandy!ickle cuteness... which I totally misinterpreted when I started writing (I thought she meant ickle!Lisa and ickle!Mandy cuteness. Fail, me). Ergo... she's going to be getting two drabbles. This is dedicated to my Janey-poo who, hands down, writes the best Mandy Brocklehurst ever. Enjoy, darling! :*

"Lisa Turpin."

Pale skin tinged pink as the severe looking professor called her name. Lisa, at least a head taller than all of her classmates including the boys, shuffled forward to the dais. One foot caught in the stonework floor and a titter of laughter broke out as she tripped, falling onto her outstretched hands.

Hot tears pricked at her eyes as she righted herself, dusting her scraped hands off on the black robes, and took a seat on the little stool waiting there. Her knees were shaking as Professor McGonagall lowered the Sorting Hate onto her head.

Oh come now, they weren't all laughing at you, a little voice whispered inside her head.

Her eyes squeezed shut to ward off the onslaught that threatened at the hat's words. "Yes, they were," she whispered.

Alright, maybe they were. But that's neither here nor there. Where should I put you? You've courage, but not so much as to beard the lions in their den; ambition, but not enough to enter the snake's pit. There's a deep sense of loyalty, but it's your mind which intrigues me. So captivating and ready, I think I'll put you in... "RAVENCLAW!"

Lisa shook her long blonde hair when Professor McGonagall pulled the Hat off her head and hurried down the little dais to where the Ravenclaw table sat, pairs of eyes peering at their newest addition. Worried blue eyes glanced along the long benches, looking for somewhere to sit.

"You can sit here," a voice said as a hand shot out and grabbed her own, tugging her onto the bench. In a flurry of elbows, knees and hair, Lisa tumbled down next to the little brunette, who gave her a smile.

"I didn't laugh at you when you fell," she proclaimed, nodding. "People laugh at me because I'm short, but they can sod off. I'm not short, I'm fun-sized. I'm Mandy, by the way." She held her hand out. "What's your name?"

"Lisa," she said, shaking the other girl's hand as she sniffled, free hand brushing away her tears. "It's nice to meet you."

"You too!"

As Mandy started to chatter, pointing out their new Housemates, Lisa's eyes wandered over the other first years who were clustered around them. The little knot of worry began to loosen as her gaze was met by friendly smiles, her fears at this entirely new world starting to fade away as the excitement of a new beginning took its place.
