Dubai
I was in Dubai from the 18th to the 22nd, along with my father and some of our clients, to attend the Gulfood 2012 exhibition. But we had enough time too see something of the city, too.
While undeniably impressive -- jaw-droppingly so,-- this coexistence of grand-scale-everything, ubiquitous opulence AND exploitation didn't really leave me with a good taste afterwards. In fact, reading this article by Johann Hari threw me into a depression.
I've taken some pictures: the whole set along with some descriptions is on Flickr. But I'm placing some thumbs here, too. As you can see, I've mostly just captured the bling.
At any rate, it was an experience worth having. On the plus side, I successfully organised this trip for seven people (tickets, accommodation, where to eat and what to see) and everyone was very pleased in the end, too. :)
