Public Service Announcement

I am now back in the cellphone having class. Yes, after months of a phone that barely held charge, wouldn't make calls (even free ones) and seemed to run for about 30s of phone time on a full charge, my wonderful wife recently accumulated me a shiny new phone.

It's only a cheap one, but it does everything I need and want from a phone. The number is still the same.

Last night was the KAOS slave auction. Early in the week I had been really keen about the idea of a party, I was looking forward to the seeing people and dancing. But as the week wore on I started to feel more and more tired, and I could tell where it was going. I have the edge of a cold at the moment and actually took Wednesday off work because I was just not feeling up to it. Also my knee is still sore. It is usually fine at the start of the day but by the end is back up to a dull constant ache and a sharp bitch when I do something wrong with it (like running, or taking weight on it the wrong way). I am thinking that there might be a doctors visit in my future. Poo!

So I found myself still at home around 11 o'clock, watching crap television feeling vaguely like I needed to get out into the world. I decided to go for a walk and decide on the way if I actually felt like going to the party. It was nice to be back walking again in the night. It used to be my favourite hobby when I was still living at my parent's place (over 10 years ago now, where has time gone), but since I no longer have the hills to walk up I have stopped doing it so much. Looking out over the town/city at night is an enduring joy but a little far to go now.
The world is quieter at night and more peaceful. The streetlights reflect greasily in the puddles and snuggling down into my scarf is warm and comfortable. I find it easier not to be stressed or worried when I am walking. (yes I am aware I've totally switched tenses about 3 times in that).

Suffice to say I enjoyed my walk.

I ran into Charlene and talked to her for a while. That was lovely. I've been missing my friends lately and it was lovely to just have some normal, unstressed time with one of them. Then I wandered to the party. There I mostly listened to terrible, terrible 40K geeking (ok, it wasn't that terrible) and chatted a little with people. The auction seemed to drag on forever and there weren't many opportunities for good conversation so I din't hang around that long.

On my walk home I did discover that the local BP station has a vegetarian pie again. It is Spinach and Feta and it's ok. Nowhere near as good as the Spicy Vegetable was in the halcyon days of yore.

And as a final random aside, some classic sounding industrial music, courtesy of Belgium's The Klinik. Earnest looking boys in tight black t-shirts.
