One of the JoAnn's near me is closing, Davin & I discovered this past Saturday. The other nearby one will still stay open, but it's a more cramped store, and doesn't have quite the same wide variety of fabrics. Boo. However, this is good news in a way, because everything's on clearance.
First trip, we managed to find some sequined panne velvet in a green that's reminiscent of absinthe, to be used in the pre-show of our Moulin Rouge shadowcast.) Of course, after buying the entire blot, nearly 5 yards, I can't find any more of that same color at either of the other JoAnn's I visit. And five yards, naturally, isn't enough to clothe everyone in that skit.
Fast forward to today.
Just browsing around in the hopes of finding something that would blend in with it, I found another 5-yard bolt. Yay. Grabbed the entire amount. And also 2.5 yards of silver diamante trim for roughly $13; eyelet for either a petticoat or drawers for my tango underwear; black gabardine for Infinities Leia; some jet set for a remake of either Senatorial Leia, or (more than likely) Ceremonial Leia; three types of cluny lace to trim the
handkerchief camisole from one of
pinkdiamond's sites; a ton of random sewing notions; and a lot of patterns for $2.
And so I don't buy duplicates when I don't need them, the patterns:
- McCall's #4596-For a female Imp. officer jacket, following benaequee's lead. (Far future project.)
- McCall's #3674-Both sizes, in case I have to make any can-can outfits between now & March 17.
- Butterick #4298-For my Infinities Leia.
- Butterick #4952-Victorian jackets, from their Making History line.
- Butterick #4955-Parasol trimmings.
- Butterick #4954-I just like the jacket on this one.
- Butterick #4890-Josephine. (Or Marie-Louise? Wife of Napoleon, which ever one they had in mind.)
- Butterick #4891-Napoleon.
Between the two visits, I'm roughly $150 poorer, but it's all either stuff I wanted or needed, and it was all 40-70% off. That's my justification, at least!
