Sometimes the world is all right

So, I read a Livejournal community about bad service, but as far as I know there isn't an active one for good service... But I feel like these two stories need to be shared, so here they are!

First up: Buffalo Wild Wings.

A few weeks ago Andrew and I went here for dinner because 1. we had never been to a BWW, and 2. we wanted wings. I ordered some kind of chicken sandwich, substituted a salad for my fries (and, I should mention, the blue cheese dressing on the salad was the best thing I ate all night) and got some kind of flavored lemonade to drink (huckleberry? maybe?). We sat outside because it was warm, and everything went beautifully until I tried to drink my lemonade.

The waitress had (quite logically) put the glass of lemonade on the table next to my water. But when I went to drink it, instead of moving my water glass out of the way like a person with two college degrees should have known to do, I picked up the lemonade glass by the top and tried to carry it closer. Being a cold drink in a hot environment, it was covered in condensation, and it slipped out of my hand, hit the metal table (which was a sort of wide mesh) and shattered.

Within about five seconds, three or four waitresses had appeared out of nowhere to make sure I was all right. Seriously, I don't even know where they came from. After being reassured that there were no injuries (except to my pants and shoes, which were very wet and later, very sticky) one of them cleaned up the glass on the table (forbidding me to touch it) one of them swept up the glass on the ground, and one of them whisked my food away (in case there was glass in it) and they got me free replacement items. It was seriously the most awesome thing, I can't even tell you. I felt like an idiot, but they were all really nice about it.

I left a pretty big tip, let me tell you what, because they were amazing.

Also, bonus, when they brought me a new lemonade, it was in a plastic cup. I laughed.

And as for Mattel, this happened today and I can't even believe it. So, a while ago I bought a Clawdeen doll from Target, and her arm peg snapped off, basically severing her arm at the elbow. I thought I was just stuck with broken Clawdeen (I still love her!), but then today I found out that Mattel makes replacement parts for Monster High dolls! Yay! Unfortunately, they didn't have any Clawdeen arms in stock (only Lagoona, and those don't match AT ALL) but I chatted with a Mattel rep online, and she's going to send me a voucher for $20 (what I paid for the doll) to replace her.

I really cannot believe this, seriously, because she didn't ask me for any proof. She just said sorry, we don't have those arms or that version of the doll in stock, I will mail you a voucher. She only has my word that I ever bought this doll at all, and how much I paid for her, and apparently that is good enough. I am floored by this. On the one hand, Clawdeen is still broken (unless I give her a Lagoona arm... Which could be interesting.) but on the other hand I'm going to have $20 for a new doll! I'm so happy with Mattel.

Also, thanks to the MH community I joined the other day, for being my source of info regarding what to do with broken dolls. Woo!
