I have finally seen the Fullmetal Alchemist movie.
I'm afraid that I'm going to have to come down on the side of those who said it left a lot open and unresolved. Not that I didn't like it, because I did, but I didn't want Ed and Al to end up over there. I'm glad they're together, that had to happen, but HELLO WHAT ABOUT WINRY? Just leave her Ed, you utter asshat. Though I think that was his point about not thinking that their dreams are all that matter. They had to give up their world and their love for the greater good. I suppose I can get behind that, but I'm a romantic and I wanted the love.
However, Roy Mustang is teh love. And Riza loves him SO MUCH. "He gives a lot of orders for an enlisted man." I cheered at that part. Roy just waltzes in, takes out half the enemy, organizes all the military's forces, and is generally awesome. YAY ROY!
Other love:
Pride as a Jewish movie maker.
Roy: Way to bring your trouble back with you, Fullmetal.
Ed: Smart remarks already? Nice patch, by the way. It should have covered your mouth too.
Al: Don't mind him sir.
Wrath and Izumi!
Short jokes!
Pinako: Aren't you going to stay here and wait for him to come back, like always?
Winry: Not this time.
Ed and Al's faces when they see "Scar" and "Lust" driving the truck at the end.
Riza in general, even though she was only in like, two scenes. You know she's not going to take any more of Roy's bullshit. They're totally together now, cause he's had his emo angst phase, and now he has to suck it up and rejoin the military. Yes.
Ok, so I guess it did tie up a bunch of stuff. Envy, Hoenheim, Wrath, Gluttony, Al and Ed reunited, Roy not a hermit... All right, so the only thing I didn't like was Ed leaving Winry. I guess I can live with that. Oh, and they changed the course of German history, which was kind of cool.
In conclusion, I liked it. Roy is love, Riza is love, Ed and Al are awesome, and Winry Rockbell is my hero. Though I still think Ed should treat her better. Ah well, can't have everything.
