My dad lived in Hawaii in the early 80s while he was stationed at the naval base. I never asked why he decided to move back; I guess he just likes the Philadelphia area too much.

Seems like you're in a similar situation to Jen. (Sorry, I was away when you wrote this...just catching up now.)

Only advice I can give is that if you're not digging Lewes now, it won't get much better if you're spending another 4 years there. It depends on how much time you would be spending outside of your schoolwork, sure. Personally, even if Temple-Ambler had a doctoral program, I'd probably choose to go somewhere else; when else will you get a chance to be a student at three different universities? (Now, if you do follow this whole path and become a prof, all bets are off regarding "numbers of universities".)

Plus, personally (again), I think you're right that conservation work needs to be done ASAP. If you could find a sweet doctoral program that did schooling and legitimate conservation work, I'd say you'd be set. Luckily, you have a few more months for scouting.
