mmmmm....
the smell of sizzling tofu that my mom is cooking for me, my dog cuddling by my side, going on the internet on my own laptop...
life is good!!

I'm home, finally. What a summer. I think the Interlochen administration probably hates me, but my campers love me to death and I'd much rather have it that way than the other way around. I miss my campers and some of the other counselors so much, and I kind of miss the lake, but I'm really happy to be home.

So I pulled an all-nighter Sunday night cuz I had a 6:00 AM flight that I needed to leave for at 3:30, and I also had to clean the whole cabin, blah. My flight took off at 6 and landed at 6 in Chicago (yay time difference! lol). I met up with my dad and he took me back to my grandpa's house. I spent the day with my grandpa and great aunt and uncle. It was so precious- my grandpa told all these stories and showed pictures of his years in the army during WW II, he told me the story of how he and my grandma met, and we drove around Chicago and saw the house that my GRANDPA lived in as a kid (the house that my dad grew up in got torn down...it was really sad!) as well as their elementary school and old haunts. What was once completely an eastern-european jewish area of chicago is now completely filled with african americans and kind of trashed, but it was still really cool to visit it.

They all reminisced about my dad's childhood and told sooo many stories about my grandma, Leah. She died of multiple-sclerosis before I was born, and I'm named after her. I really feel like I missed out on so much by not knowing her, but over the years I've been able to somewhat piece together my own image of her based on stories and photos. I know it's only a name, but since my name carries on the memory of her I feel some sort of connection with her. I used to actually write her letters and hope that somehow she could read them. Okay end of Leah confessional.

I got home today and it's really nice to be back! Call me, we'll hang out.

Oooh wanna hear something really cool? My brother Jacob made friends with Connie Williams, our senator, and she's gonna try to help him get a job and some sort of group home setting that isn't $8573294875 a year. So everyone vote for Connie Williams she rocks!

So I need a plan for next summer. Because this summer, in terms of planning, did not turn out so well! I need to make money, but honestly, I need to improve on violin even more. I originally said that I woudln't go back to Aspen until I was 21 because I want to enjoy the night life, but I think I'll apply to Aspen for next summer too because I was able to have a part time job there last time I went and it was really cool. It really depends on if I get a scholarship. I'm gonna work really hard to make a solid tape and send it out lots of places and see in the end what the best choice would be musically and financially. I'm gonna tell Mr. G that making a spectacular recording is my fall semester goal. Ahh I'm so excited for school to start again!

My girls had fun!
