YAY!!!! My JURY is over!!! My YEAR is over!!! WOOHOO!!!!!
Time to brag and be arrogant-
I'm so proud of me. Even with a weekend completely filled with family activities, plus a final paper at hopkins due today, I still managed to play the jury of my dreams!
I didn't even have to do the 2nd movement of bruch, all they asked for was first movment and half of the Bach I prepared. I really didn't have much trouble with nerves- like...my body was nervous but my mind wasn't, if that makes sense. My legs and hands were shaking which made my vibrato kind of erratic, but I got to a place with a bunch of runs and my head was like "okay I cant be shaking here if I wanna get the notes" and then I actually nailed every run! I got to the double stop section and I was like "I can't play this if my fingers dont loosen up", and my fingers actually listened to me and relaxed! I played with passion, focused on the music, and was pretty surprised by how good I sounded. My accompanist said I sounded fabulous (and he's going to curtis next year- he knows what he's talking about!) and my teacher came out and said Bravo and told me I played really well. I hope the other faculty agrees with him! I don't care if they don't though. I know that the majority of violinists here are better than me, but I improved exponentially since I got here and I hope to continue to do so!! It wasn't perfect, but all I wanted was a performance where nerves wouldn't negatively affect me too much, and one where I did everything I know I can do. I feel SO GOOD now that it's over! My head was seriously in the clouds earlier today. Or something. It's just...nothing compares to this, for me anyway. This has been such a huge learning experience- everything this year has. And when it all culminates in moments like these, I know that there is nothing else I could do with my life and be this happy, besides play my lil violin.
Anyways,
As I've mentioned before, my brother's bar mitzvah was this weekend! A lot of the weekend was filled with dealing with my family which can be VERY annoying sometimes (besides Shira) but I love 'em anyway. Also got cornered by a ton of second cousins once removed and whatnot plus my mom's family friends and stuff, and they all of course came up to me. After about 30 minutes I wanted to post a sign on my head saying...
"College is great, thanks!
Yes, I'm very proud of my brother
No, I do not have a boyfriend"
Me and Sam at the family dinner the night before
The party was at some fancy country clubbish thing
My dad and Aunt Ester
Mike was the only person that really wanted to get into pictures haha, so I have a bunch of him
With cute wittle Sharoni
Amy
and breakdancing. hot!
Family friends 4ever! Daniella, Jeff, Julianne
Mich and Amy
My gorgeous cousin Erica dancing with my cousin Joel. They're not related by blood, and they really hit it off. It was cute! But still...they're both MY cousins! Weeeird!
This picture cracks me up. Cuz Erica's all over Joel, Joel's like "this is MY lucky day", Brandon (Erica's brother) is like "uhhh what are you doing??" and sam's like "hi!" and aunt lori's shouting about something in the background haha
Me and Sam again
Air guitar
My mom and Sam dancing...awwww
Jacob was on the dance floor for the whole time that he wasn't eating! He had a blast just jumping up and down
There he is in action
And then of course....NO Greenfield family bar mitzvah would be complete without Jacob shouting YMCA!
LOL oh jacob
aaaand the greenfields!
I got to spend a lot of time with Sam, and I appreciate him more now that I realize how much he's decided to create his own identity and doesn't care what other people say. And my grandpa on my dad's side at the end said to me, "Well honey, I hope I see you again"...and that's been weighing really heavy in my mind. He's perfectly healthy right now, but he's practically 90. I think i'm gonna start writing him letters.
Last thing. I have my BEAUTIFUL high speed internet connection plus mytunes and i2hub and mytunes for only 4 more days now. Recommend lotsa music to download!!!! (but only good stuff)
