Commitment and Immortality

Commitment

Everything in life needs some level of commitment from me. I am committed to the earth I walk on in that I will treat it with respect, and not harm it more than is necessary for my survival. As an Elf, I walk as a being in tune with the forces around me, listening to the voices of being too subtle for most ears to hear.

As a Prince, I am committed to my father, my king. Through my duties, I am committed to my people, ruling them fairly and with respect. I know that without them, everything in Mirkwood would fall apart, and cease to exist.

I am committed to my bonded, for he is my life, and the center of my world. I would be lost without him.

There is one thing in life that I am not committed to, and that is the forces of ill, of evil. The only commitment I have with these is that I will work against them, trying to stop them from harming the ones I love.

Immortality.

I was born immortal. As a result, I cannot grasp mortality, living a short life. Becoming old and weary will never touch me, for elves do not age like those of men. I would not wish to become mortal, even if I was given that choice, for I do not long to die. I do not want to experience the forever night.
