So far, the Fall in Japan is awesome, despite the sickening course load I foolishly gave myself. Best part would be my host family, not your steriotypical Japanese family at all. Just an 18yr old host brother and Okaasan (mother). We live in a little apartment about a 40min train/bus ride from Nazan (the school). Right now Komei(brother) is playing my gameboy, while drinking beer (which he snatched) and eating gyoza...a spectacular combination. Very 'sophisticated' as he likes to say. It's fun to have a host brother around my age, easier to learn all the useful Japanese terms that aren't taught in the text book.
I found myself a crazy taiko group in the city we live in. The group is huge, one practice had about 30kids, the adult practices have maybe 16 adults. And all real drums (bleeaah..just tried some Japanese dark beer...teeeerrible, need to stick with the Irish stuff..back to the taiko). The group is like taiko boot camp, practice four times a week for 2-3hrs each. I'll probably have to drop a practice or two once homework really gets rolling.
I'll try to go catch up with what all of you have been writing, haven't checked this since I got here.
