I have felt like I did not do well enough in both Baton Rouge and Nashua. The more I think about it, the more concerned I get.
Today I decided to resume sending out resumes. I quit doing this in mid-February when I got three second interviews scheduled back to back. Turning down the job in Wyoming may well prove to be the mistake I feared it would be at the time. I sent two more out today -- both to places in Florida -- one in Tallahassee and one in South Florida. I could see myself living in either of these places.
Then, late today, I got a phone call from Baton Rouge. I was still under consideration there. I had passed the initial screening and could expect to hear more next week. Again I get my hopes up.
I have been doing lots of reading since I have not been working -- primarily books on gay history. Today I finished reading Why Can't Sharon Kowalski Come Home? This is a book written by the lesbian partner of a woman who was devastatingly injured in an automobile accident. the two women were closeted at the time of the accident, and Sharon Kowalski's parents chose to deny their daughters sexuality and block the ability of the two women to be together. The book ends before the final court decisions, which finally recognized Kowalski's ability to choose for herself; she chose her partner. It does acknowledge the importance of being open in relationships and the need for legal recognition of gay relationships. It was a thought provoking book.
