Hi Mark,
I was listening this morning and heard you "correct" Rodrigo when he said this morning's sound clip was .39 (thirty-nine hundredths) of a second. I didn't have the chance to listen for too much longer -- had to shower and hop on the bus to work -- but I hope you apologized to him and your listeners for pulling a Dan Quayle. Not only did you incorrectly "correct" Rodrigo, you also incorrectly rounded the number to .30 (thirty hundredths aka three tenths) instead of .40 (forty hundredths aka four tenths), and then and in the same breath mocked him for getting it "wrong." Who on earth would round 39 down to 30? Seriously?
I'm not a math teacher and I didn't take a single math class in college, but I still understand and remember the basic theory behind fractions. I hope your twelve-year old (whom, you mentioned with pride, would know what ".39" is) corrected you too.
