Wonderful Wednesday
I am so, so proud of Canada right now. TODAY ALONE we have kicked Russia's butt in men's hockey and won 1 Gold (women's bobsleigh), 2 silver (women's bobsleigh and speed skating) and 1 bronze (speed skating). Our ladies KICKED ASS TODAY!!!!
Just... we're doing awesome! Screw the people who have said that we won't surpass the US in medal count and that that isn't a good thing. WE'RE KICKING ASS AND WE'RE MAKING OUR COUNTRY PROUD! Today mum and I had to go down town and the sheer amount of people wearing red and white was overwhelming. Everyone is proud to be Canadian and showing their support. People who weren't even Canadian were wearing Canadian swag. I heard this one guy in the street talking to an Austrian guy saying how awesome they did in skiing the other day. I haven't seen pride like this in my life (I was only 4 when Calgary hosted the winter Olympics in '88). Everyone seems to be having a good time and visitors to Vancouver are telling us how lucky we are and how beautiful Vancouver is. I'm very certain that the world may think we're a bit crazy with our hockey, but hey, it's our sport and we have a right to be a tadfucking nutcases hockey crazy.
I'm also loving to see other countries bounce around when they win. I think the USA team is the bounciest. Regardless what they win it seems like they just bounce to the podium. :P
I am proud to be Canadian and wouldn't want to be anything else.
