Until tonight I was a stove top popcorn virgin. I had always used microwaveable popcorn or an air popper before this (I think dad gave ours away when he moved). Tonight I got the sudden craving for popcorn and after much searching I found a decent sized bag of popcorn kernels, but didn't know how to pop it. Luckily they had instructions on the bag

Oh man, is there a difference in OUR ages. I learned to make popcorn in a pan when I was 8. When the hot-air popper came out a few years later, it was a minor miracle wonder machine, akin to the VCR (come to think of it, it may have been around the same time the VCR was finally affordable enough to actually *buy*).

I remember when VCR's were over $150 or whatever. Today they're just big paper weights.
