The Letter...
So, I did something yesterday that I had been wanting to do for quite some time. I sent a letter. It was a short letter but I think it makes the point that I needed to make. I know I've blogged about wanting to write this letter for a while ow and about how I usually write it and don't send it or never finish writing it. This time, I wrote it, put it in the envelope, put the stamp on it, and sent it on it's way. I'm giving the person it's to until the end of next week and if he hasn't called or wrote back by then, I'll give him and I guess he won't be my "what if" guy anymore.
For those who haven't been long time readers, some background info: The summer before my junior year of high school, I was talking to two different guys. One was a guy I had crushed on throughout high school (Bobby) and the other was a guy I had met at my then job Food City (Matt). Well, I talked to both of them quite a bit and it got to a point where I didn't know who I liked more so I just decided that whoever asked first was who I would date. Bobby asked first and we were together for two years. There was a time or two when Matt and I hung out even during those two years. Nothing happened between us but we stayed friends. After Bobby and I broke up, I ran into Matt again when we were both working at Wal-Mart. We started talking a little bit and hung out a couple small times when I met up with him after he would get off of work but we lost contact again. The last couple times I heard from him, he had called me at my moms when I had the same phone line I had used since high school (I was spoiled with my own phone line back then). Well, I've since had that phone line turned off and it's been about three years or so since I have talked/heard from Matt. I don't know if he has tried to get ahold of me since that number was the only one he had. So, I've sat wondering and wishing for a very long time. I finally wrote the letter and sent it. I just said that I had been thinking about him and that I would really love to catch up with him sometime and included my cell phone number. I don't know what he is into now....no clue....he could be a married father of twelve for all I know...or a hardcore crack addict. I just want to find out. I just want to know what happened to him. I hope he calls...but if he is married now, I am not sure if he would respond. Guys out there...if this were you, and you received a letter from an old friend (where something more may or may not have happened given the chance, we'll never really know), would you write or call back? Just curious.
