Skype session with Bridget Effing Regan
Back on May 24th, B tweeted a link to the Kickstarter page for Camp Wanatachi. TeamBAMC (shipperfey, virkatjol, relaxjolene, valhallalilly, pickgems, firstserve & tarlanciel) along with this_years_girl (who'd gotten to meet B @ the AotS taping) flailed (as normal) and pledged the first $500. A couple of weeks later we made a 2nd pledge for $500, realizing that 30 min wouldn't be enough for 8 flaily people.
Scheduling the chat was a bit harder than first thought, since we had to try to find a day and time that worked for everyone involved. Once the date was set (July 25th, 6pm PDT), the true waiting began.
There was little planning involved, other than testing our mics and speakers, and possibly alcohol ingestion on my part. Plus serving as an alarm clock for poor tarlanciel who lives in Germany and had to wake up at 2:40am for this.
We were the first and only group chat that Bridget did, so it took a couple of minutes for everyone to get in on the conference call (no video since Skype only supports one-on-one video calls). I first connected to hear a familiar voice say "OMG this is so high-tech" followed by pickgems yelling "OMG! IT'S YOU!" which got the other 7 of us giggling.

Bridget is WONDERFUL. I know, everyone knows that already, but she's so easy to talk to, and very friendly. She was very considerate from the beginning by asking if tarlanciel was in the chat, since she'd heard she was from Germany. Then she thanked us all for pitching in and pointed out this was her last chat, and how it was epic because it was 8 women from all over the world.
She asked all of us where we were from, and how we'd gotten into LotS. She asked if we'd known each other in person, and we said no, but we will be meeting @ D*C. We told her about the consuite party, which somehow led to a discussion about LiveJournal and she said she'd heard of LJ and that there were many funny people writing stuff :)
She said they'd sing the Jurassic Park theme song on their way to location.
relaxjolene asked B about her favorite album, but B said that was too hard (and I didn't yell "that's what she said!") and added that right now she's into Vampire Weekend.
virkatjol asked about the shoes she wore to the Burbank event, and then B talked about waiting tables and bartending. She talked about the commercials she did in NY. CRAZY CAT LADY and litter and soup. Working with unprofessional cats is hard.
She asked our favorite episodes and she talked about Mirror first. In the lake scene she had to wear pasties that were connected in the front, and black scuba pants because the lake was so shallow they had to squat and they didn't want her white legs to be visible underwater. And Craig was in a nude speedo. valhallalilly may or may not have giggled/squealed.
Then we discussed Torn and how she should've gotten paid double for that. She mentioned that doing the commentary for the premiere was so much fun. And Princess was awesome cause she got a few days off and by the time she got back and started laughing at Tab, C and Bruce, everyone was over it already.
We explained "flailing" to B. We also linked her the UrbanDictionary entry for BAMC and she went "omg did you guys send me a bracelet?" and we were like "OMG WE TOTALLY DID" and she loved the tiny dagger tarlanciel picked. B mentioned the action figure she wanted for Kahlan, which got us talking about SDCC.
We mentioned the SOS giveaway of Prophecy/Destiny @ SDCC and Bridget told us about how she was the only one with an American iTunes account and how she'd download it so everyone on set could watch the episodes. She said earlier on she watched the episodes, and Craig watches and studies every single episode. Tab and Bruce are more the other way around.
She asked which other shows we'd watch without Seeker. We discussed Spartacus and Glee for a bit, and she mentioned she's going to NZ and told us we all had to go there because it's epic and awesome. She said she would like to do more TV in LA, that she ended up enjoying TV way more than she expected. She'd also like to do independent films.
B talked about the auctions for the costumes a few times. She didn't keep her boots, and she was excited that the items were auctioned to fans and that someone in Singapore got her backpack. OMG and she kept Kahlan's wedding ring and she promised to post a pic to Twitter of it so we could see it, and the hair thing during the wedding was her idea.
GREEN BLANKET OMG GREEN BLANKET AND IT WAS TAPED TO HER DURING TORN AND IT WAS IN HER BACKPACK A LOT AND ALSO BANDAGES BUT NOT HER IPOD THIS WHOLE PART HAD US FLAILING HENCE THE RUN-ON CAPS OMG OMG.
then we asked about the missing scene(s) by the campfire from the promo for Tears. And B was like "WHAT? THIS WASN'T IN? WHAAAAT?" and then she couldn't remember what it was all about, but she thought it was from the beginning of the episode right after everyone got reunited and that it probably got cut because the episode ran long... and that it was the last scene they shot before the series wrapped.
We discussed her product recommendations and she promised to tweet more of those, which made us flail.
She mentioned she hadn't been on Twitter as much and that every time she got on there, people were talking about the show being cancelled/saved and she just doesn't really know what to tweet about it, which led us to discussing Faxo (she didn't know she was that sexy on Twitter, and she joked that she'd try to sex it up some more to be deserving of that award).
OMG and then we mentioned Dear_b and she was all "I FOUND DEAR_B, AND I TWEETED TO DEAR_B" and we were like "IT'S pickgems and B called her clever and cute.
She's reading Commitment, and also some classics like Hemingway.
OMG MERMAID. (yes, caps as I randomly remember shit) Apparently Craig was in a show where he was in love with a mermaid and she was really excited to hear about the plot and everything.
I asked if she had any charity she had any preference to, and she couldn't name anything, but she did mention that the whole Skype-session-as-a-reward thing began as an idea she and Tab had after the earthquake in Haiti... and that never worked out, so it ended up as an idea for CW.
We thanked her for the 7 pics she signed and sent back to us. She mentioned she just did a whole sack of fanmail she's getting to, it made her think of/remember that she'd gotten my shark and how awesome it was and that she'd liked my name and omgomgomg I was like ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! but muted.
Then tarlanciel mentioned she'd sent her the digital painting of Kahlan she'd done, and Bridget went "the one of Kahlan on the horse? you're a great artist" and then we pointed out Tarlanciel also did the SOS posters so far, and B loved them.
After an hour and twenty minutes, B said she had to go to a dinner and then she told tarlanciel to go to bed and that we shouldn't keep her up flailing. And that she'd like to go to a con soon (maybe Dragon*con but she's a gypsy and can't really commit to it until she knows where she'll be around that time) so she could meet us all in person and OMGGGGGGGG SHE HUNG UP AND WE ALL LET OUT OUR FLAIL AND THEN SOME MORE FLAIL AND THEN FLAIL.
