Hello Seekers!
Just dropping you a line to let you know there is yet more shenanigans occurring on FF.Net, though this time it applies to the whole site, not just the LotS fandom.
FF.Net has been reportedly deleting fanfiction that doesn't comply with the terms of service, meaning fanfiction that:
-has explicit sexual content (anything higher than an 'R' rating)
-excessive violence
-song lyrics
-chat speak
-based on series by authors that do not permit fanfiction based on their work
-real person fiction
-summaries that exceed a 'PG' rating (i.e. contain words like 'blood', 'kill', 'sex', and coarse language)
Oddly enough, titles that contain the words 'blood', 'kill' and so on seem to be fine.
This is all fine and dandy, as they have the right to enforce their rules, however they have been reportedly not notifying authors before deleting fic and suspending accounts. So if you have any fic hosted on FF.Net that might be even remotely questionable, or you have a favorite fic that is only hosted there, I suggest backing up copies of the fic and reviews. Some sources suggest that the dust may have already settled, but as no one is really sure I thought I'd better make sure the LotS fandom knows anyway.
Incidentally, I have a couple of AO3 invites if anyone wants them. First come, first serve.
