The Underground
The Underground is an area found beneath the entire Sinnoh region. Characters can travel underground at any time using an Explorer Kit, which they can receive from the Underground Man in Eterna City. It's perfect for digging up rare treasures and making secret bases, only if you know what you're doing though.
Let's start off with what you need to get down there in the first place.
Explorer Kit
This kit is your best friend in the Underground, you can't enter it or live without it. Actually, it's the ONLY thing you're allowed to take with you while you're down here since your normal bag is left up above, being guarded by your Pokémon which also aren't allowed down. Not even your PokéTop can come with you! Well, it technically can. But the signal wouldn't work and there's a very high chance it could be damaged, so it's not a good idea. It contains the following useful items:
Explorer bag: Uses the same hammerspace as your normal bag.
Helmet with light: Protection and a much needed flashlight.
Shovel: For getting those big piles of dirt out of the way.
Hammer: Makes a bigger impact. Wall may collapse after 25 hits.
Pickaxe: Makes a smaller impact. Wall may collapse after 49 hits.
Underground Map: It's a labyrinth, keep this close.
Radar: Locates any spheres, treasures or traps hidden.
Digger Drill: Allows creation of a secret base. You only get one chance, use it wisely. Bases cannot be moved.
Items
Of course, there has to be cool stuff down here since it's such a pain in the ass to get to in the first place. Characters can not only mine for cool stuff, but they can also set up traps around their favorite mining areas/bases and trade spheres for decorating items for bases too.
Mining:
Spheres - Most common treasure you'll find down here. They come in colors of Red, Green, Blue, Prism and Pale and can range in size from 1-99. These are basically the currency of the Underground and can be traded for traps or goods.

There's also another add on which makes the Underground special, though it can't be accessed from the inside. The Sinnoh Bullet Train runs through here, connecting Jubilife City and Solaceon Town. Breeders ride for free and Trainers ride for
100 one way.
