Paragon-ed!

For those who know me, I am fond of weekend out of the country trips just to eat good food. Being in an industry where taking a long vacation is close to impossible, doing a short weekend trip is the only way to scratch off my travel itchiness.

Last month, we went to Singapore for the weekend to visit my brother, and of course, to eat good food. We started the gastronomic feast just as we landed, and finished a few hours before leaving for the airport.

Anyway, looking for the best restaurants in Singapore wasn't tough at all. With the advent of new Orchard Road malls, your stomach can get satisfied in just one road stretch. Actually, you can get satisfied just by going into one mall - Paragon.

It also helped that we lived just behind the mall, so whenever we get hungry, we just had to skip going to Paragon.

So what's in there? Well, here's what Paragon offered us during the weekend:

A.) Soup Restaurant

Soup Restaurant is known for their famous Samsui Ginger Chicken.

Samsui Ginger Chicken is steamed without much seasoning, so the flavor of the chicken really comes out. And then you dip it in a ginger sauce which makes the eating experience delectable!

We also had the hometown tofu:

And then we had some specialty soup and the steamed hand chopped minced pork with salted fish.

B.) Crystal Jade Golden Palace

Who doesn't love Crystal Jade, right? While Hong Kong would probably have the best Crystal Jade restaurants, Singapore doesn't fail (unlike Manila's.. hehe)

They have wonderful interiors, and really good dimsum. We had almost all kinds of dimsum, and of course, Xiao Long Bao!

(I think Din Tai Fung Taipei still has the best XLBs.. Especially with how they do their wraps!)

C.) Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck

As the name suggest, there's just one main highlight worth going back for:

The main star of the show -

It was so good. The chef does the slicing beside your table, and he will serve you first the best skin part of the peking duck. I can still taste that first crunch! yum.

So just by hanging out in Paragon, you could actually taste a lot of Singapore, and these are just the few restaurants that's in it. There's actually a lot more you can explore!
