Salt

Much like my hatred with anything that has Okra and Ampalaya, I never liked eating Sated Egg ever. I just find the texture so weird and the taste is just overly salty. I never got why people liked eating it with tomatoes or what have you.

it's such a pain seeing people gorge through servings of salted egg in whatever dish they're eating - and actually enjoying it. the purplish color of the shell itself is weird enough for me not to get excited.

I never thought the day would come that I'd actually like salted egg. Not that I'm going to eat it in its most original state, but these three dishes have opened my eyes and have actually made me enjoy salted egg. it's amazing!

1.) it started with Zong's Salted Egg Fried Chicken.

If you haven't tried this one out, then it's about time! It's amazing how they concocted such dish! it's crusted with salted egg and the texture works well with the friend chicken, and the kropek! yum!

2.) and then C2's Bibingka Souffle happened.

Not only did I enjoy the salted egg in a dish -- I enjoyed it in a dessert! The bibingka souffle is just lovely and I'm proud how they were able to give a twist to a Filipino dish and take it one level higher! Amazing!

and finally, my newest discovery,

3.) Fresh Fish Spring Rolls of Sentro 1771.

Amuse Bouche sizes, smokey tinapa and salted egg wrapped in thin rice paper, with vinegar as dipping sauce - it's just the perfect combination! I've eaten in Sentro a couple of times already and I'm surprised that it was just last night that I tried this dish! It's heavenly. A must order in every Sentro trip!

Are there any more dishes with salted egg i have yet to discover??
