the curious case

so finally, i was able to catch benjamin button this evening!

i actually liked it. i've heard mixed reviews so i didn't set any expectations when i watched, much like twilight. though there wasn't really something great or extraordinary, it was like listening to a sad slow song that had good lyrics. but the melody was just mellow all throughout, with no belching on key lyrics. ayun. parang ganun.

it was sad, i caught myself crying in some parts, not really relating to it, but was able to feel the resounding sadness of the unusual emotional situations. a lot of people said it felt like forrest gump. i actually felt that it was more titanic than forrest gump.

should brad pitt get an oscar nomination for his performance? not really. he was okay. i'm actually not sure which scene he started playing benjamin button. he's no marion cotillard. if cate would get a nomination, i won't mind. she was good.

-------

i just have some observations/questions/realizations about the movie:
- they do not sleep. sleeping doesn't seem to be fun for them. they'd rather stay up all night.
- i probably understood just a word or two of what the old cate blanchett said.. the rest were just garbled moaning.
- cate at her prime = bawal ang pores. hindi pwedeng may pores.
- cate's color = it's not white. it's ghostly.
- one of these days, my friends and i should do a caviar night. sounds fun.
- did julia ormond and the old cate die in the hospital, thanks to hurricane katrina?
