a couple of minutes before our meeting started, i dropped by my client's work station to say hi and check some stuff. when i got to her area, i saw a couple of tickets for the mummy: tomb of the dragon emperor and hurriedly grabbed them (4 to be exact), then afterwards asked if i could have them. since she was so busy with work (overtime galore!), she gave me her tickets and i called my mom and dad for a little family affair at the movie house.

we watched the mummy in powerplant. it was lovely. i liked the sequences and the humor, the setting and the 1940s china! love love love the costume and set design. the movie wasn't a disappointment, it had the same mummy formula and i am such a big fan of the franchise. now i want to watch mummy and mummy returns all over again!

there are just two not so good things i have to say about the film. first, it's so bitin. jet li didn't put up a fight like imhotep. the story and the sequence weren't so full.. the story was great but it felt like it was cut short. though the movie was about two hours long, it still felt like a good 30-40 more minutes could've made the movie more complete.

the second not so good thing is maria bello. i mean, i love maria bello in coyote ugly, but being eve in the mummy just doesn't feel right. i so missed rachel weisz. the movie didn't feel complete also because rachel weisz wasn't there. weisz had the quirkiness and the clumsiness, but the way bello portrayed eve was just too different. eve turned out to be so confident and powerful, very much bello's coyote ugly character... so i really had a discomfort seeing bello as eve..

but other than those two, it was an interesting watch! :) and i guessed the 4th installment right! incas it is!!

movie, movie review, the mummy
