[There is some garbled noise, puntuated occasionally by the sound of things clicking and papers fluttering.]

Hmm...it appears this device has some sort of recording function...Testing, testing...

[The feed goes silent, as though someone had stopped and checked to see if the recording had worked. After a little while it turns back on, its owner ( Read more... )

You don't remember being here before, Clive?

It's totally okay! :) legalapprentice June 24 2011, 00:57:34 UTC
Celeste? [Fancy seeing you here um. Also I hope there's no protocol for prior memories]

Why are you here? Did Dimitri finally fix the time machine? [Clive realizes he's talking to someone who's theoretically dead, and this might technically be the underworld or something idk]

No, I don't recall being here. Was I here before?

Claire is fine, dear. [Nope :3b]

I'm not sure why I'm here. I remember going... back, and there being an intense light for an instant, but then I woke up here.

You were, Hershel has one of your old Pokemon.

Of course. It's good to see that you are well. [wonderful, more evidence for this being the land of the dead. Well this is unfortunate.]

Well, I don't seem to recall an intense flash of light or any recollection of being here--I suppose it's possible that if I was here and returned, I simply lost my memory of being here. [Sigh. This actually worries him greatly.]

I don't suppose you can inform me of what these Pokemon are. Honestly, the locals make them out to be highway annoyances.

To put it simply... Pokemon are animals, usually with special powers, and are usually very intelligent. Even the ones without any unusual powers are much tougher than the animals we're used to. We're supposed to catch them, make friends with them, and help them get stronger.

Would you like to see mine?

So, somewhat like exotic pets, then? I heard rumors of using them to win battles and gain badges in order to return to our world...

If you don't mind.

Really? I don't understand why badges would let us go home....

[After some delay, she gets out some of her Pokemon. She doesn't want to scare him, so Ampharos and Castform are chosen.]

See? This little one -- [She indicates the Castform] -- was born from an egg, and the yellow one -- [She pats the Ampharos on the head] was my partner from the very beginning, although he was a sheep back then. Sometimes Pokemon metamorphose into stronger forms, but the locals call it "evolution" for some reason.

The logic doesn't seem sound to me either, but I haven't heard of any other speculations.

[Clive's seen some of pictures of odd-looking creatures in the bedroom where he woke up, so he's not quite as perturbed as would have been. He isn't quite sure exactly what animal Castform and Ampharos are supposed to be, though.]

Like chickens, I see...I can't see how the yellow one once was a sheep however, most supposed evolutionarily linked animals still look similar. [But Clive supposes that the locals were just never introduced to the long term evolution theory.]

[Clive holds up his Pokeball. It hasn't been opened, mostly since he thought to keep it as a last minute resort.] Claire, you just summoned those two Pokemon using this sort of device, didn't you?

His first form was called a "Mareep"; you can look it up in your Pokedex, if you like. It's an index of all the different kinds of Pokemon.

Yes, that's right. That Pokeball should have your first partner inside it.

[Clive examines the Pokeball, and then presses the only button-like protrusion on the object. There is a flash of light, and a Cubone materializes in his lap. Good thing it wasn't an Onix.]

Well, this is a bit more disconcerting in person. But I guess it's still manageable, to say the least.

Oh yes, there was one other thing I wanted to ask you. Since we seemed to have been brought to this world from...different...times back in our world, how is the professor faring? [Clive is expecting a really old Layton here.]

[If this is still Video:] Oh, it's cute! Make sure to be nice to him.

He's alright, why wouldn't he be?

[Still video yup] Cute, huh. I guess I wouldn't want to end up as one of those bones it's carrying. I guess this one's a carnivore, then. wait a minute, what do these things eat...?

I was inquiring of the time from which the professor had arrived from our world, but it is good to hear that he is well.

I don't know, I don't think I've asked. I don't think it's too terribly different from ours, though.

Oh. Well... Hmmm. [Clive doesn't know whether he should be disturbed or not. But let's not make conclusions with such a small sample size.] Are there any other familiar faces around here?
