Well I've been scared to go to school. I didn't know what college was gonna be like, and it really wasn't all that bad. My first class was a 11:30 and it was American Sign Language 1. The top two pics are of a 97 Integra. From what my knowledge serves me, this was the look for the base Integs from 94-97. The GS-R had painted mouldings and as you can see, both the bumpers are slightly different. The front are shaped nearly the same way as the 98-01 but aren't fully painted. The rear bumper was simple, though it kinda stuck up.
The 97 Type R came with the newer front bumper but retained the old rear bumper if I'm not mistaken. In 98 all Integras has the newer front bumper, new rear bumper, painted door/fender mouldings and the better looking solid-red taillights (rear signal was no longer orange). Entry model Integs still didn't have the lower side panels painted. All Rs of course came with no door/fender mouldings and 5-lugged wheels. The R chassis has special staplings on it to keep it rigid in turns (ok, you can't really SEE that one. :) ) and finally... JDM Integras (on the outside), came with no rear windshield wiper... apart of the weight reduction plan for the Type R. ;)
All in all, between a base/GS-R Integra and a Type R, it's not too hard to distinguish the bodies and the side door mouldings was the LAST thing I noticed that was the difference between the two. I would always look for 5-lugs. However, I've noticed some people have went to the extent to shave those mouldings off... talk about money, but if it were me, I'd do it... it looks much cleaner especially in colors the R doesn't come in (like dark blue), although it heightens the chance of the car being stolen simply because it looks more like a Type R.
