#1. You are the instructor in an introductory computer art class, and are aware that many of your students need extra help with unfamiliar programs, many of which are too expensive for your students to buy and use at home.
Do you...
(A) Learn the programs as well as you can, and frequently use them before starting the class so that you can solve problems and answer questions in a quick, precise manner.
(B) Make frequent rounds through the classroom, answering questions and working with students to solve problems.
(C) Work on an ex-student's extracirricular commercial project, and call in another professor to help you because you don't know the program well enough yourself.
#2. One of the power supply units in the classroom begins to beep. What do you do?
(A) Remember that not all the students know what that particular part of the computer does, and give a quick explanation of the warning sound, along with what to do when one hears it.
(B) Be considerate of those students who might possibly have bad directional hearing and point out which unit is making the noise.
(C) Explain that the noise is trivial, and it will go away soon.
#3. Assuming the power supply unit does not cease to make the warning noise, what do you do?
(A) Remind all students to save their work, and call the technician, as you may have a serious problem.
(B) Identify the computer or computers that the power supply unit is hooked up to and inform them that you need to reset the unit.
(C) Let your friend dive under the desk and turn off the unit without any warning.
#4. Assuming that the power supply unit is turned off prematurely and a student who is unfamiliar with thier computer looses thier work, what do you do?
(A) Apologize and assist the student in getting the computer re-started and perhaps in recovering thier work, if possible.
(B) Apologize and ask another student who is more proficient to assist the student in re-starting the computer and recovering thier work, if possible.
(C) Say nothing, do nothing, allow your friend to insult the student's intelegence for not understanding the computer, and then go back to working on your ex-student's file.
If you answered C to all of these, congratulations. You are now apparently qualified to teach Introduction to Computer Art. Needless to say, I left early to avoid starting a fight.
I'm so sick of this class. If I didn't need it for my AA, I'd drop it in a heartbeat.
