In Which I Review Bands and Try to Sound Like I Know What I'm Talking About.

EDIT: Dru corrected my spelling. Melos, not Mellos. Thankee.

So Dru and I saw a rockin' show last night with Terra Melos, These Arms Are Snakes, the (International) Noise Conspiracy, and... those other guys. (Don't get me wrong, they rocked, too. They just had some overly gothy/emo name that I couldn't be buggered to get right.)

Here's the breakdown:

Terra Melos:
Holy CRAP. Guitar NINJAS. Seriously, as in using them as weapons. I'm amazed no one on stage or in the crowd was injured. The lead guitarist is nuts, and does these facinating things with his fingers to make the guitar make very odd noises. No good for dancing to, but great fun to watch!

Grade: A-

The (something) of You:
Those poor guys that I could not remember the band name of. Good music that I probably could have danced to. Kinda blah in some parts, though. I distinctly remember liking the last song of the set, although I have no idea what it was.

Grade: B

These Arms Are Snakes:
Lots of fun, and pretty high-energy on stage. Rhythms were a little closer to Terra Melos' than the standard stuff, which makes it a little hard to boogie to, although I wanted to. There was cowbell involved.

Grade: A

The (International) Noise Conspiracy:
Holy cow on a STICK, these guys are good. The whole band has a very spiffy uniform, the lead singer has a slight Swedish accent and is very charismatic, and most, if not every guy in the band is fairly good looking. And did I mention how good they were? Seriously. Good dancin' music, incredibly engergetic on stage (and off stage, when the lead singer wandered off the stage and on to the table next to Dru and I), and there were cowbells, maracas, and harmonica. Everything but the kitchen sink, really.

Grade: A+

The opinions and grades in this review are based on my musical tastes. Check the bands out for yourselves and see what you think.

Also, I got a band shirt for These Arms Are Snakes. Yaaaay. :)
