Also, I got a reply from the possible job-thing:
As of now our outreach position has been filled. (Gahfrickdamnit.) We are still working on our upcoming facility, and once it's finished we will need people like you. (I love you. Hire me. Now. These are not the Jedi you seek.) We are hiring teachers and aides currently to work with the kids
afterschool. Teachers start at $9.50 and aides at $8.50. We are looking
for people available from 1pm(ish) to 6pm Monday through Friday. (I... ahhh, CRAP.) Teachers and aides supervise the children, tie shoes, make snack, play tetherball, help with homework, let the kids beat you in footraces, and enrich children's lives. (But can we teach them about the proper way to catch a lizard and hold it while chasing thier sisters?) You don't have to laugh at their jokes. (But I probably will. 'Cause that's what I do.) Teachers are encouraged to teach the children things they are passionate about like bowling or needlepoint. (Or horrendously ugly deep-sea fish and video games?) Often we are able to incorporate those passions
into some of our other programs, giving the teachers a chance to work with
our enrichment and GATE kids. (That sounds lovely.) Tell me if the hours work for you.
They don't. They DON'T. My classes end at 4:50 on two days and 3:30 on two more, one of which I run straight to work after and go 'til 7:00... That leaves Friday.
Even if I quit my job (tempting, but not advisable), I'd only be able to work 11 hours a week, if that... and... and... *does some math* ... *re-does it* ...Wow. Um.
Right. I'll get back to them on that. My boss is gonna kill me...
