When he wakes, the sun is familiar, the chair is familiar, and his father is still alive. At first, McCoy feels nothing but relief at the situation because he thinks that it's solved, that he's done it. He thinks that right up until the minute that his chronometer beeps at him. She couldn't remember falling asleep this time either, but blinked rapidly as though waking from a dream, not believing her eyes. Nothing had changed. It wasn't just the same room on a different day, but more like the pieces of a chess game had been reset.

Surging to her feet, Uhura's first look was to McCoy's father, the only reason she kept her voice as hushed as it was when she turned on McCoy. "Well that worked well," she observed, dry enough to snap.

It's all very disorientating; the last thing that he remembers is running Bones' ex finally leaving, and then he's back standing beside Uhura, exactly like he was before. He blinks and tilts his head slightly.

It doesn't occur to Jim that the Vulcan wouldn't know what's going.

"Yes!" McCoy snaps without even needing more than a second to think, already on the goddamn attack because if he has to live through this again, he's not going to carry the burden on his back of something he can prevent. He grabs at the chart and studies it, shaking his head furiously. "There has to be a mistake," he insists sharply. "This can't be right. We can't be back in time a day," he says, slamming the chart back down, aware that it's woken David up.

...who appears to be looking at him with quite the bemusement.

"Leonard," he calmly states, even though he's struggling to speak, the pain evident in his eyes. "I don't think a Vulcan can help you. You need to give up."

"I don't need to do anything," he replies back, trying to size up the situation before the begging starts again. "Everyone, out. In the hall."
