I've been tagged by the meme that's going around and so now I must name 10 things that make me happy. OK, so, 10 things...
10. The feeling of laundry that's still warm when you put it on the day after you washed it, because you packed it so tightly into your laundry bag that it wasn't able to cool off.
9. Going home for a visit. Leaving home and growing up were the best things that ever happened to the relationship I have with my parents. I've graduated to being an adult in their eyes, and it's working out well.
8. The feeling of sweet relief when life takes a pause because a holiday is upon us. It's my last year of Christmas, Spring, and Easter Breaks. You can be damn sure I'll enjoy them all.
7. Making other people happy. I know it sounds trite and cliched, but there is a corollary to the idea that "misery loves company," and that corollary is "happy people like to spread the wealth." It warms my heart to bring out a smile from someone.
6. Sweet revenge. Oh, you thought I was going soft didn't you? Warm laundry? Holidays? Making people happy? What's gotten into that boy? Well, don't worry. I don't care if "vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord;" I like a steady dose of getting even myself. Maybe this doesn't really make me "happy" per se, but I had to put in something to keep up my streed cred. It was either this or "running over baby rabbits," which I have in fact done before.
5. Windy fall days, with a cool breeze blowing through your hair, and the richly-colored leaves dancing around on the ground. I feel alive in the crisp air, and there's that electric tingle of the changing season. Winter's coming soon...
4. Doing things that other people tell me I can't do, but that I want to accomplish. Fuck each and every one of you naysayers out there.
3. New friendships found, and old friendships maintained. You all know who you are, though it's problematic that some of you don't read LiveJournal...
2. Right now, taking chances and living fully in the moment. It's not something that I've done a great deal of in the past, but I'm finding happiness in stepping (or being pushed, as the case may be) out of my comfort zone. Which brings me to number one...
1. Alanna.
