I'm tired of renting from scum. I'm more tired of living beneath the poverty line, but that's not going to change any time soon. In any case, the landlord, Marty (yeah I'll use his name because he's a prick), while telling us why we don't have a necessary basement egress window on our property said, and I quote: "It's the right thing to do, it would just cost me $2600. And I'd have to bring out a backhoe or some 'Mexican backhoes' HARHARHARIMARACISTASSHOLEHARHAR!" Thanks Marty. I'm glad to know that tenant safety is such a concern. Woo! exploiting illegal immigrants is sooooo funny!
He also has a shady back-door deal with Ypsilanti's building inspector so that he can sardine-can cram as many renters as he wants into a cinderblock rat-trap that is not up to code by any stretch of the imagination just as long as it looks like only 3 people live there. Why would that matter? A few years back Ypsi passed biggoted zoning regulations (at the behest of the town's few affluent residents) designed to quarantine students, minorities, and other riff raff to slums north and south of campus and on the south side of the city. It's good to know the city we live in is on our side! Oh wait, its not.
Fuck you Marty and every other racist asshole who expects me to laugh at their conspiratorial "oh cool there's no brown people around lemme tell you a joke..." garbage. Fuck you Marty for acting like you're doing us a favor when really you are renting an unsafely wired, not-up-to-code, cinderblock shithole that you couldn't possibly foist on anyone who makes as much as our neighbors. Fuck you neighbors for the outright hostility that comes from reducing human beings to their effect on property values. And last, a big fuck you to Ypsilanti for putting concern over the number of residents over the safety of the residence.
Further fuck yous to: conspiratorial racist grad student, asshat who tied his dog up in 90 degree weather with no water, maintenance guy who seemed cool but exploited illegal labor, guy that trampled the garden aaaaand .... anyone else who I forgot.
