so, on wednesday i think i sorta got asked out for some time, about a year from now, from a guy who lives in arizona.
just my luck, right?
so our x-ray guy comes once a year to do all the scheduled maintenance for the unit (it's supposed to get done twice a year, but we're perpetually low on funds, so we push it to once a year). so, while he's in there doing his thing, somebody from the museum needs to be there to "babysit" (his word, not mine :)) him. so, there's quite a bit of down time once he checks
everything out and then the x-ray unit needs to be warmed-up. once it's up to 320 kv, it needs to stay there for another 15 minutes. so, all told, the proceedure takes about three hours. so, during this time we have sporadic conversations, including the fact that i was an intern, but my internship's up in september at which time i'm moving on to the oriental institute, also in
chicago, and including the fact that his company's based out of ohio, he just moved to arizona, and he's servicing x-ray units in chicago...how odd. so, when all was done, we went upstairs to sign paperwork and make copies, and then i lead him back out to the dock so he could leave.
at which point he shakes my hand and says something like, 'too bad you're not going to be here next year, i was
thinking we could have lunch or something'.
oye... now why can't any cute chicago boys ask me out (and preferrably, not for a year from today...)
