Apparently the only person that I could find in Davis to play chess with is some creepy guy in the comp sci basement labs. I'd like to say that this was ample evidence to start coding my own chess game, but really I had started before I ran into him.
So, I'm coding this chess programme and everyday I hit a new wall in the AI function. A decent talk with Travis last night seemed to clear up most of the "moral" dilemmas I had, but I still have a lot of coding to do. If anyone knows of any interesting strategies or board setups they are particularly fond of, maybe you could draw something in mspaint (or gimp) and post it on imageshack.us for me.
Oh, and when I woke up this morning the first thing on my mind was the time I was playing guitar at the San Rafael bus depot five years ago, waiting for a girl, and a very disheveled balding man in a three piece business suit came up to me asking first if I had seen an autistic boy around, and secondly if I had a car I could lend (sell?) him so he could look for this autistic boy he lost. I imagine he had quite a story to tell at the end of that day. Maybe it's just my imagination, but I think he also offered me methamphetamine, or at least mentioned in passing that he was hopped up. Either way, I was upset he disrupted the song I was playing.
