I got to unexpectedly go to the "Evening with George Lucas" last night as part of the Paley Festival hosted by the Museum of Television & Radio, held at the Director's Guild.
OMG, it was amazing! They focused a lot of his work for the "Young Indiana Jones" series that was on TV 15 years ago. Holy cow Sean Patrick Flannery was young! He went into detail about the process - like how they had written ALL the scripts for a season prior to filming all over Europe and Asia. Very interesting, and it worked. He's working on putting them on DVD and making them educational tools for high school students by adding in documentaries of all the influential people that Indy meets in his travels. I think it's a good idea and will pan out, eventually.
He did talk a little Star Wars, saying that they are currently making a 100 episode cartoon series of the Clone Wars, much more involved than the snippets we got on Cartoon Network. They are doing this with out knowing where it will air! Making first, then shopping around. Interesting, I hope we don't have to wait too long to see them. Then he is planning on working on a live-action SW TV series. Whew! Apparently Indy IV is a definite go.
The best part was after the talk because he actually stuck around and signed autographs. I wouldn't believe it, I really thought he would just jet out like so many others, but he didn't. I was lucky enough to snag one on my Vanity Fair cover of Episode III. I am very happy. :)
