I'm really excited for it! GMU and AU are my top choices, they're tied for 1st place so I really need to visit and see which one "feels" right.

aw thanks, me too :(

Oh I forgot to add, when you're all settled in on your choice or actually settled into your dorm, I can give you a list of places, things, etc you've got to do (and things to avoid) while you're in DC. That is, if you're interested!

Thanks, that would be awesome and very useful! Do you have any tips for my trip? Me and my sister want to do a little shopping/sight seeing, so any recommendations?

Aha I'm intrigued by this "things to avoid" list.

Near GMU there's Tysons Corner http://www.shoptysons.com/ in McLean, VA. It's a really great mall and there's also Tysons II which is more of a window shopping mall with like Chanel, etc.

In DC itself there's Georgetown http://www.georgetowndc.com/ which is great. There's all of these shops (some pretty expensive, other reasonable stores like H&M) and loads of restaurants. I recommend going here for sure if you get a chance. I am not too familiar with the area closest to AU, but Georgetown isn't too far.

I don't know of your visiting schedule, but you usually need a whole day to do the real sights, museums, etc. I'll do up a real list in a post of where to go (and definitely where not to. lol DC is scary in some parts) for that AND where you can go see bands that come into town. Which is also a vital thing to do!
