1.Take five books off your bookshelf. [Or on your desk, for the lazy]
2. Book #1 -- first sentence
3. Book #2 -- last sentence on page fifty
4. Book #3 -- second sentence on page one hundred
5. Book #4 -- next to the last sentence on page one hundred fifty
6. Book #5 -- final sentence of the book
7. Make the five sentences into a paragraph:
There was a time when I went to a church day after day because a girl I had fallen in love with would pray there, kneeling for half an hour every evening, when I could watch her in peace and quiet. This will create all kinds of complications because I can't stand places without windows. She reached into the nursing station and pulled out a full medication cup. "The hospital director is quite angry with you, Johnny." The broken flower drooped over Ben's fist and his eyes were empty and blue and serene again as cornice and façade flowed smoothly once more from left to right, post to tree, window and doorway and signboard each in its ordered place.
Book 1- "Conversation With the Worshiper" by Franz Kafka
Book 2- "I Am the Cheese" by Robert Cormier
Book 3- "Girl, Interrupted" by Susanna Kaysen
Book 4- "The Dead Zone" by Stephen King
Book 5- "The Sound and the Fury" by William Faulkner
Well, that killed some time. Real post eventually...
